Sorry but it's late and I'm feeling too lazy to look it up. What is the original/correct finish for M39s? I thought it was an oil, pine tar something? My new one is clearly shellacked and has been for a long time.

I got a new M39 and started to take it down and ran into a push me pull you problem.
Opposite the band retaining spring through the stock a pin is protruding. Depress the spring, it protrudes farther. It does not line up with t he gap in the band at the pinch screw. Therefore, I cannot remove the band. I looked on my other M39 and there's no such protruding pin. I am inclined to clip the sucker off and have done with it but thought I'd ask first before modifying anything. I do...

? On M39 bolt for Mosin owners

I picked up a 1941 VKT M39. Mosins are new to me
When you cycle the bolt the handle it doesn't lock down tightly. It only takes Slight pressure upwards & it would lift the bolt hande. Is this normal? I mostly have Mausers which close tightly. The bolt seems to operate correctly & the safety moves easily.

Finn Capture 91/30 with strange marking-WAFFENAMPT?

I just bought a Finn capture 91/30 Dated 1933. Above the serial number on the receiver it has a strange marking that kind of looks like a waffenampt! I could be wrong but that is what came to mind when I took first glance. If anyone knows what it is or why it is there let me know. I took some pictures, hope they help. I also found a picture of a waffen that was on a k98 in an old gunbroker auction (it is that last picture). It looks very similar! Any ideas would be great. Blane

m28 need a little help

I have a m28 with a D marked receiver. I am having trouble with hard opening of the bolt and cratered primers. Do you think the problem is the chamber needs to be cleaned more or is it that the bore is .308? It has a SIG barrel. I slugged the barrel and it is .308

I found a 1943 highwall 91/30 ishvesk the stock has cccp with wreath in side also taking off the butt plate the stock matches the bolt, bore is bright DIA 3.10 every part is ishvesk i thought this was great a non refurb all matching even the stock number matches bolt number and with the ishvesk stock stamp cccp with wreath in a circle of course the machine work is rough but barrel is not counter bored and square bright lands first mosin guys is this as described somewhat a rare wartime rifle???

The local Dunhams had a $79 sale on 91-30's. There was one with a hex reciever that had an Ishevesk barrel that must be dated 1928 judging from the type of stamp. The refurb mark had been stamped over the last digit in the date. It looks to an 8 but could be a 3,5, or 6. The barrel looked newer than the receiver and had very few other marks stamped into it. It was quite clean compared...

Greetings gentleman, I just bought a SA marked M91 with a 1942 date and Tikka barrel for a Princely price of $75.00. It is missing the 8 tiny screws that hold the 4 plates by the sling swivels. Does anyone know where I can find replacement screws?

M91 rear sight question.

Several months ago I bought an M91; boxed SA and Tikka stampings on the barrel which is dated 1942. Question concerns the shooter-side of the rear sight - stamped 13 to 32 while the left side of the sight base is stamped with lined-out 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 and the right side of the base is stamped 2,3,4, 5 1/2, 7, 8 1/2. What do the stampings on the back-side of the sight leaf indicate? Arshini? TIA.

Finn 91/30 rear barrel band

I broke mine. It is the old style with the screw that is captured in the bracket. I turned it the wrong way and broke off the non-slotted side of the screw. Anyone know of any replacements. The stock is not cut for the russian style rear bands with stock retainer.
