1917 Enfield bulged/ringed barrel

I finally was able to purchase an excellent condition Remington M1917 that was made in July, 1918.(been looking for one like this a long time!) The rifle has been through a rebuild at one time and has a 5/18 Eddystone barrel. When inspecting it and cleaning the bore I felt a space approximately 3 inches from muzzle when patch got loose for about 1 inch then tightened up again? 5.45 x 39 mm Smith and Wesson AR RANGE REPORT

Well guys,

It was long overdue, but finally got the 5.45 x 39mm M&P 15 on paper. Visited Smokepole50 today (12 hours round trip for me) and we shot the M&P! I should have measured the tape we were shooting at, but it was about 1.5 times the size of a credit card. Tried out both Wolf 70 grain and Bulgarian surplus 7N6 55 grain (yes corrosive) ammo. Here are the results:

Hello all!....Haven't been on much in awhile, but my latest "task" made me think immediately of Parallax Bill!
My friend ordered an Ohio Ordanance semi BAR, and after a year wait he got the call.
So it arrives and some "assembly" is required. I have not seen it yet, and i can't imagine there's much to assemble, but any advice from someone who has gotten one would be nice.
(sure don't want to put a "mark" on his spendy new toy!)...

Dupage Garands

Hello how are you. I recently found out that Dupage sells M1 garands with new stock and WWII receivers. I was wondering if anybody has bought one and what condition they were in. I am looking for a gun to shoot and hace some fun with and possibly take hunting. Its says that receiver has some minor pitting, what grade would it be similar to in regards to CMP. I want a WWII receiver in good condition.

Price Check: Krag

I've done admittedly little research on Krags, but noticed one at a local Gander Mountain. Appears not to be sporterized and in VG condition with a bore that is a little dark but the rifling looks good. I did not ascertain whether it is matching. The butt has a name and rank of someone in the "Irish Republican Army" somewhat sloppily embossed into it.... I can't comment on their authenticity and in the absence of knowledge I'm assuming they are not genuine.

Deciding on a CMP purchase

So, I'm thinking about another CMP purchase, and wanted some opinions. I'm leaning towards a field grade Winchester M1 Garand, because I already have a Springfield. I do see a lot of the carbine manufacturers are still in stock though, and some are a bit cheaper than the $695 that the Winchester M1 costs. I have an IBM and an Inland carbine. What do you guys think? How are the field grade guns? Is it worth the price tag?

Ive just come back from a long weekend in normandy taken a few pics, thought some of you may be interested ?
i have tried to keep the pics weapons related [sort of] " not strictly US rifles " but i think its an interesting subject.

I have been looking to replace the O3-A3 I foolishly traded last year with a buddy and lo and behold found a real nice one I think at a great price at a gun show this weekend. I got a Remington serial 4202xxx with a 12/43 dated barrel and 4 groove rifling in pristine shape from a walk-in for the princily price of $300. It has all chartouches very deep in the wood and no where is the metal proud in anyway. It is a mix of coated and blue parts which I understand is normal for late 43 dated...

I went to an auction today, and on the block was an original 1st Model Winchester Model 1873 chambered in .44 wcf.

That wasn't the thing that really caught my eye. It was what was on the stock and fore guard. It looked like someone in the past had put a lot of brass tacs all over the wood, in a circle on the stock, and in a line on the front guard.

This wasn't the first time I've seen this, being around the cowboy action crowd most of my life. My question...

My Bargain Bin rifle showed up at my FFL's on Tuesday (I ordered last Friday ), but I couldn't get by his shop until today.

His first words to me were "CMMG sent you the wrong gun."

I asked what he meant, and he said "There is no way this is a "scratch & dent", used, or bargain bin rifle. I can't find a mark on it!"
