Just Because I'm Curious. (Finn SVT-40/Hakim price question)

I went to the local show today and, of course, because I can't really spend anything, I found some really killer deals.

Two that really stood out were a Finn-captured SVT-40 in pretty good condition with little finish left on it. It looked to be in good working order, but the finish was mostly gone. He was asking $775, but I'll bet I could have gotten it for $700 OTD.

Later on in the same show, I found a Hakim in pretty good condition, with 50% or better finish on...

5.45x39 AR test firing report

Accuracy was on par with other semi-autos, it fed the rounds from the 5.45 factory mags just fine.
It did have several failures to fire.
I used the "heavy duty" hammer spring when assembling the lower and the primers had some solid dents in them.So I don't know if it is sorry primers, not enough hammer force on the firing pin or what.
After letting them set in a corner for a 10 minute time out, I reloaded them one at a time in the mag and 3 of the 5 duds fired off...

My question is this: was there an AK47 muzzle threading tool to cut the left hand thread on Clinton era gun-ban AKs going around on this forum?
If not, I apologize for my fuzzy memory. Aging does that
If it IS so, is it still available to "borrow"?

Serious Scope Question

For those with a flat top upper and a pesky factory front sight post on an AR, how do you mount something on your AR that the front sight assembly doesn't block the scope?
Do I need to hacksaw that off and get a flip up front sight to replace it?
Or just give up on mounting a scope low to the upper and get a detachable carry handle and mount a scope on to that piece?
It looks goofy, but it works and is solid as can be, less the cheek weld and according to my handy-dandy...

Okay, so I know these are legally pistols, but I think a discussion of them would fit better here than in the modern handgun forum. I just put one of these on layaway and was very happily surprised with the quality of the parts fit. Finish was a little rough, but outside of that, it seemed better than the WASR-10's that I've been looking at (especially in terms of mag lock-up...there was literally no wiggle). I was also a little surprised at how light it was. The gun shop owner smiled...

SARCO G43 stocks....anyone have experience?

Hey guys,

I saw that Sarco still lists a G43 repro. stock and handguard online. Anyone have experience with that particular item (from Sarco) that they are listing?

I was going through my G43 parts bundle and am happy to report I have a lot more parts than what I thought! Quite a few are 214 or 359 marked.

A good repro stock and handguard are next on the list though.

Is a G43 fun to shoot?

I was reading in Hitler's Garands and the author advises against shooting any G43. He doesn't mention Apfeltor's improved gas system though.

I know G43's are owned by a (lucky!) few on the forum, do you enjoy shooting it?

PSL is accurate

This is a target I fired a couple hours ago. The range was 100m and the ammo was Privi Partizan 150gr FMJ BT. The rest was a rolled up moving blanket under the forend and my shoulder. The first 4 rounds went into 3/4" to the right on the target below. The 5th was the high and left hit that opened the group to 1 3/8". If allowed to cool between shots a PSL is capable of MOA. Best rapid fire group was 3-4". Could be heat but most likely the not very good trigger and me....

Well, on Friday, the Norinco Para finally comes home with me off layaway (at which point a Romarm Draco AK pistol goes on layaway...). It's in pretty much perfect condition save one thing: the cleaning rod. The original had apparently fallen out in the possession of the original owner (who shot the rifle very little) and he could not find it. I laid the PSL and stuff on the table a few minutes ago. Decided to figure the cost and what I got for it. I have a excellent shooting military PSL with a LPS4X6TIP2 scope, 7 magazines, leather sling, rubber scope cover and eyepiece, 4 mag pouch, scope cover, cleaning kit and oil bottle, proper bayonet/frog and sheath. The total cost came to $714.50. This was an AIM purchase at $579+shipping+dealer transfer fee($623), $56.50 APEX purchase of 4 mags delivered, $20 for bayonet & $15 for...

I finally got a 5.45x39 upper after looking around for over a year!
I understand completely what he's talking about in regard to the upper wobbling on the lower.
There's an incredible amount of it between the upper and lower here.
I did install one of those nylon/neoprene/hard rubber gidgets to take up the slack, but it still wobbles a little from left to right.
Has anyone tried these with normal AR...

Battery for Russian Tiger Scope?

Recently purchased a Russian Tiger Druganov and scope did not have the battery with it. Have looked on net to find correct battery and no luck. Some of the scopes took the button battery like cameras take but this isn't one of them. Looks like it would be a short (about 1/2 inch long) fat battery. It is for the PSO-1 scope. Russian writing of the scope model is NCO-1M2. Any one have a clue? Thanks..........Robert

Since Knob Creek was a fairly dry event (no weather pun intended) in regard to finding stuff, I ordered a few bits & pieces from APEX to tide me over until I get the urge to buy more accessories.
They have some nice 30 round mags for the G-3 and the original Yugo grenade launcher attachment they sent was almost new in condition.
So now there's a spigot for both Yugos here.
The 30 rounder got a US...

Hey guys,

I know this'll be expensive but with cleaning up the gun room I realize just how many waiting projects I have. One is a G43 I bought some years back. Although it does shoot (thanks PitBull and Scrammbled) it needs a new (non shortened) barrel and stock.

Any ideas for finding those parts?

Is ebay and gunbroker good for such?

Galil optics mounts

Just wanted to ask Galil experts- what's the best way of mounting optics on it? I've seen the original Galil throw lever mounts for AR carry handle scopes, but they seem to be positioned too far forward...also various quad rails- CAA plastic ones and aluminum made...What would you recommend?

YooperJ is trying to figure out this four digit serial number on my SKS, ie., 0418. With the single star he determined it is a Tula reciever used by the Chinese. He is circulating the pics to his friends for their help. I post these pics for your observation and imput. Thanks David

PSL 54C question

My PSL 54C arrived from Century last Friday. I see that prices at other sites are about $100 dollars lower than what Century charged but I didn't have to pay shipping AND I got five extra mags for a total of seven so I suppose it's equivalent. J & G is selling mags for forty dollars. It's a nice looking rifle and I like the scope. My question: Should I use ammo with a 150 grain bullet or is it safe to use ammo with heavier bullets? I'm inclined to stay with a...
