Final rendition of scoped Galil:)

Here's the finished Galil I came up with after asking the experts on this forum(previous topic)

Installed CAA quadrail handgard, grip-pod, PEQ 15, slanted reflex sight and original IMI 30 mm scope mount going in the receiver slot on the left side. To clear the scope had to put in a modified AK action cover.

Any news on the KEL TEC RFB shipping?

They were supposed to start shipping these the end of Oct. I keep checking with the distributors but none have showed up yet.

Centerfire's Romanian PSL's

Centerfire has put a "bare bones" Romanian PSL on sale (no scope, no scope-mount, only 1 magazine) for $449. I think I'm going to drive over and buy one today. Where would I find a correct scope and mount, and about how much will they cost me?

Okay, so I've got an Albanian SKS that should arrive here from gunbroker some time next week, but to be honest, I've never seen one quite like it. It's one of the less common, "undated" guns, but it seems to throw a monkey wrench into the theory that all of the undated guns came at the very end of production in 1979 and 1980. The serial number is 0187 and it has a matching dark wood stock, not the orange shellac stock I've seen on literally every other undated...

Romanian AK-47 WASR 10

Need a little help/information. I was smart enough (lucky enough) to pick up a WASR 10 before the prices started sky rocketing last year. Paid $235 for it from Dunhams. The rifle shoots great and it's pretty accurate. The problem that I have is that it is only set up to accept single stack, 10 round magazines (it came with 6). Does anybody make a 20 or 30 round single stack magazine for this rifle? Is there a conversion that can be made to the receiver to accept double stack, high...

i might build another AK47.. from a romanian kit, simple stamped build.. but i no longer have the tools i once did.. are there any sort of devices or apratti put together by regular AK builders that can press out barrels or rivets without me having to buy a 12 ton shop press im only going to use once?... i like an idea of a pipe clamp for pressing the barrel in... but what about removing it or pressing out rivets?

Went to the big Tulsa show this weekend. Great show with an unusually large number of great military surplus. Many many Mausers, Garands, 03's, Finn's and M1 carbines. Of course there was a big showing of everything "AR" and "AK".......but I didn't see one VZ-58 or Yugo M-76. I thought that was odd....

Well, I tried the Silver Bear ammo and had an even worse ratio of clicks to bangs than I did the first time out.
13 of 30 had dented primers, but no ignition.
On a whim, hunch, feeling, whatever you want to call it, I removed the accuwedgie chunk out of the lower, reloaded the dud rounds and got 100% ignition.
30 out of 30 rounds on the paper and in the black (not dead bulls eye, but close enough for killing paper plates at 75 yards.

I went to the local show today and, of course, because I can't really spend anything, I found some really killer deals.

Two that really stood out were a Finn-captured SVT-40 in pretty good condition with little finish left on it. It looked to be in good working order, but the finish was mostly gone. He was asking $775, but I'll bet I could have gotten it for $700 OTD.

Later on in the same show, I found a Hakim in pretty good condition, with 50% or better finish on...

5.45x39 AR test firing report

Accuracy was on par with other semi-autos, it fed the rounds from the 5.45 factory mags just fine.
It did have several failures to fire.
I used the "heavy duty" hammer spring when assembling the lower and the primers had some solid dents in them.So I don't know if it is sorry primers, not enough hammer force on the firing pin or what.
After letting them set in a corner for a 10 minute time out, I reloaded them one at a time in the mag and 3 of the 5 duds fired off...

My question is this: was there an AK47 muzzle threading tool to cut the left hand thread on Clinton era gun-ban AKs going around on this forum?
If not, I apologize for my fuzzy memory. Aging does that
If it IS so, is it still available to "borrow"?

Serious Scope Question

For those with a flat top upper and a pesky factory front sight post on an AR, how do you mount something on your AR that the front sight assembly doesn't block the scope?
Do I need to hacksaw that off and get a flip up front sight to replace it?
Or just give up on mounting a scope low to the upper and get a detachable carry handle and mount a scope on to that piece?
It looks goofy, but it works and is solid as can be, less the cheek weld and according to my handy-dandy...

Okay, so I know these are legally pistols, but I think a discussion of them would fit better here than in the modern handgun forum. I just put one of these on layaway and was very happily surprised with the quality of the parts fit. Finish was a little rough, but outside of that, it seemed better than the WASR-10's that I've been looking at (especially in terms of mag lock-up...there was literally no wiggle). I was also a little surprised at how light it was. The gun shop owner smiled...

Hey guys,

I saw that Sarco still lists a G43 repro. stock and handguard online. Anyone have experience with that particular item (from Sarco) that they are listing?

I was going through my G43 parts bundle and am happy to report I have a lot more parts than what I thought! Quite a few are 214 or 359 marked.

A good repro stock and handguard are next on the list though.

Is a G43 fun to shoot?

I was reading in Hitler's Garands and the author advises against shooting any G43. He doesn't mention Apfeltor's improved gas system though.

I know G43's are owned by a (lucky!) few on the forum, do you enjoy shooting it?

PSL is accurate

This is a target I fired a couple hours ago. The range was 100m and the ammo was Privi Partizan 150gr FMJ BT. The rest was a rolled up moving blanket under the forend and my shoulder. The first 4 rounds went into 3/4" to the right on the target below. The 5th was the high and left hit that opened the group to 1 3/8". If allowed to cool between shots a PSL is capable of MOA. Best rapid fire group was 3-4". Could be heat but most likely the not very good trigger and me....
