Greetings Everyone.
I have a question which I'd like to humbly submit to the forum members.

When I fire more than 3 rounds out of my 98 Mauser I have to ratchet the hell out of bolt handle to get it in the vertical position to extract the spent
casing and chamber a fresh round. To the best of my knowledge the bolt assembly is properly lubed so I can't see why this is happening. It appears to be
a heat issue due to the fact that once I let the rifle cool off the...

Hi All,
I'm looking at an old Turk Gew 88 with a bayonet, I think its a M1903. The rifle looks to be in good condition with a barrel that still has some
rifling but is a little frosty. The bayonet looks like one of the Spanish bolo style with cross hatch pattern on the handle. I'm going to go by and look
at it again and see if I can get a few pictures. So whats something like this worth on today's market?

My question is this: Do I have an S or a J Bore rifle? Is it a .323 bore or a .318? Should I have a bore cast done to determine what it is? Were the .318
bores only used in the early Mauser rifles (Pre 1905) ? I really don't want to spend the $45.00 to do a bore cast if I don't have to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I would like to hear any opinions on these two guns. Is one more accurate than the other. (The 1893/33 is obviously older and thus less accurate than the K.
Kale? But then I've heard K. Kales were thrown together from spare parts and thus a poorer quality gun? )

Say you remove the gun 'condition' variable, will there be any consistent difference in accuracy? If this is an age old discussion on this forum -
sorry, it's new to me.
