Pad is made of rubber and replaces the metal butt plate. Pad in configured to correctly fit the stock.  Pad greatly reduces felt recoil of the 7.62x54R round,

			<description><![CDATA[ I just ordered a couple of these butt pads.  I&#39;ll try one on a 91/59 and the other on either the M44 or M38.  I&#39;ve got a slip on, but it&#39;s not what
I really want to use, so we&#39;ll see.

As for cleaning, especially in the field or at the range, just put some hot soapy water in a thermos and take it with you.  Pour some down the still warm
barrel and follow with a dry patch.  Do it again if you feel you need to, and then clean well when you get home.  The water is what... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Using a couple on my shooter 91/30, 38l 44 AND 91/59. No problems with fit and I really needed the extra length they give me. I can get a tighter, more
consistant fit to shoulder with them. Got a couple more at the Richmond gun show last week for my brother&#39;s mosins. Oiled the old plates and zip-locked

			<description><![CDATA[ Great product. Easy to install. It looks like it was made for the rifle. Test drove it over the weekend at the range. It made the rifle fit better. I&#39;ve
always thought that the stock felt short before. Not only did it lessen the felt recoil but the extra length put the rear sights far enough out that my my
aging eyes could bring them into focus. Definitely a good product for a shooter Mosin. ]]></description>
