I just returned from Camp Perry. I started practicing this year with my M96. It is a sweet shooting rifle with SMK and Varget. I took home a gold medal!!!
Seven out of the top ten rifles were Swedes. There were lots of K31 Swiss entered. The vintage match is lots of fun.

I came in 30th out of 330. I shot a 96-3 slow prone, 92-1 prone rapid and an 87 offhand = 275-4. The gold medals score started at 275, I just made it.

I use an extended modern sling.

I've been using Winchester brass. I recently found out that US made brass for the 6.5x55 is under size, made from 30.06 blanks. I just ordered some Norma
brass, it is .006-.008" larger at the base. I'm looking to get better results out of this new brass.

My favorite Swede has sterling silver medal embedded on the stock and some Swedish writing. I had it translated and it said,"Youth shooting match, 1st
place". And it is still an extremely accurate rifle. I shot it in my local gun club military bolt action matches for a while and won two of the matches.
My best score out of a possible 300 at 100 yards is 298 8X. I was wondering what your scores were at the national match and how they were scored? jim

Awesome shooting, my hat is off to you and your accomplishment. I too would love to go to Camp Perry some day. One of my clients has been the range officer for
the high power match the past couple of years. I keep threatening to hide in his suit case. Once again, Great Shooting !!!

Last year the Swedes placed up at the top. Weighing-in how few Swedish Mausers there were, they did better than the K31s!!

Excellent job.

Yep, them Swedes are tough to beat for accuracy, partly due to the fine 6.5 x 55mm round that they shoot and partly due to the Swede's superior
craftsmanship and materials.
