Wow, what an interesting bit of history. I'd bet one of those rifles would most certainly draw attention at a bolt-action high-power meet! I'll bet
they shoot fabulously. Thanks for clarifying the red stripe for me. You have no idea how discouraged I was when I looked in the bore of that 91/30 I had
ordered only to see what looked like a 410 shotgun bore!

And, they all certainly cleaned up well!

1) As Oldrgr said, the red bands are to differentiate for the British between .303 and .30-06. The bands that Rome might be thinking of are red and white
bands, which I have seen on a few P14s. Those type of rifles are also often stamped "DP" [Drill Purpose] Take it from me - there is
nothing wrong with these bores!!!

Hello Rome. Thanks for the nice words and concern for my safety!
In the specific case of these rifles the red stripe was placed on the stock by the Brits to differentiate its caliber, .30-06, from their .303 chambered
Enfields. These rifles are in near mint condition with the exception of the dings on the stocks and perfectly safe to shoot. I put 10-20 rounds through it
after cleaning. On the left side of the stock within the red area is either a stenciled 30 or 300 (varies on some...

Super nice job. You've preserved that rifle for many years to come. Now for a question.

I've had some experience with rifles that had a red "band" painted on the stocks. In my experience, that red stripe meant to warn you NOT to
shoot them. The one I had (not an Enfield, btw) came from Southern Ohio Gun and had had the bore bored out! If I tried to put a round in the chamber, it
would literally flop around and it resembled more of a small-gauge shotgun instead...
