SARCO has kits to build your own BM59, everything except you have to supply your own Garand receiver, and modify it according to their blueprints. Here's a copy of their ad from the SGN I got in the mail yesterday:

I have a BM-62 that is still unfired - I have resisted temptation for 20 years or so. I have a letter from Beretta stating that only 2,000 were imported into the US, so prices will only go up on these fine rifles. The workmanship is superb - both wood and metal.

Recently I was thinking about buying a BM-59 at an auction this past fall so I did some research on the rifle. I found a site that told all about them and I will post a link to it tomorrow. Basically there are several different types......

You have the modified Garands that we lent out after WWII and Berretta modified them for the Italian Army....

Yes,we can but they have to be on the national catalogue of the firearms and the BM 59 is not there,the 62,civilian version,is possible ma awfully expensive,at least for me about 5-6 thousands euros...

yes I'm in Italy and every day on this fantastic forum!
Regarding the BM59,it was an "Italian solution to the problem to have an auto-rifle at the lowest cost,so Mr. Salza,an engineer,convert the post war Garand 7,62x51 in the rifle called FAL Beretta Modello 59.
Please excuse me,but I'm proud to say that,in my poor opinion,this is the best example of Garand auto conversion:well made,good accuracy(it's a Garand!)heavy enough to control it in...

Good point Bryan. I like the "handyness" of the BM59/62, but it's hard to beat an M1A. Sold that one too, so I'll have to be satisfied with my STG58.

I've always thought those were very cool. But, I can't see spending $2500 on an inferior M1A that takes $75 mags.

I once had a BM62 "clone" built on a H&R M1 Garand receiver. It almost identical to the Beretta, used M14 magazines and even with a two groove barrel, shot like "a house afire."

Alas, I had an offer I couldn't refuse and sold it.

Wished many times I had it back.

I only see the one, are the others listed differently?

Also, the one I found on GB has a different butt pad from the one I saw. The one I saw had a nice contoured smooth rubber butt pad. I sure wish I had an extra $2500.

...on one of my extremely rare road trips. My son saw behind the counter what he thought was a shorty M1A but my skilled eyes quickly noted an odd trigger group/Magazine sticking out from underneath. I asked the guy in the shop to let me see it and he said it was a rare Beretta M14 to which I quickly informed him it was actually a BM-59.

Folks, this one is mint condition with an early 4 digit serial number on it. It was price way out of my range at $2500. So, just to satisfy...
