The local shop in the central Maine area still has 91-30s for $99.00
I was suprised they had come down from about $125.00

Dunham's laminated 91/30s were still overpriced at $199 though

Back in November they were $130 for the laminated 91/30's at Dunhams! I got an unlaminated 91/30 for $70 instead

I never got too deep into the Finn stuff, although it is a fascinating part of Mosin collecting.

The most "exotic" I almost got was a Finn'ed M91 Dragoon I have been eyeing up at my local gun shop but not sure I want, trying to justify another Mosin when I already have over 30 of them, and most haven't had a live round chambered since 2003 or so......some have never seen a round. I would love to someday find time to take all of them out and shoot them.

Some of mine cost a bit more...

Finn M27's, M28's and 28-30's can be quite spendy.....Dragoons, SA M38's can cost a pretty penny as well.....M27rv....SA...

Last Friday I ran into 3 M-44s one polish 1955 unmatched the other 2 Russian all $175ea. This shop keeps around 15 to 20 mosin's on hand and gets new shipment regularly. 91/30 R-Guns $119 ea. Laminate stocks $129. He said a mosin is a mosin, and that he did not care about markings he sells them all at the same price. Lucky me.....

Prices vary like the wind and depend greatly on what the dealer wants to make and of course what he paid for it. General rule I find is if the dealer has several dozen Mosins his prices will be better because they can buy them at a better price. Take a small time shop and he buys 2 just to test the water sort of and of course he pays top dollar. His prices will reflect that generally being higher. They really need to make at the very least 45% or slightly more to exist. If he bought 10 or...

Just as a heads-up, I checked the local Dunham's today and the 91/30s with round receivers were on sale for $89.99. So cheap Mosins are still out there...Dunham's laminated 91/30s were still overpriced at $199 though - heck, you can get a nice M91 for that!

You should be able to get all the common & uncommon varieties of the Mosin Nagant for under $200 in my experience (most for well under that). They are the last of the cheap surplus rifles.

Some gun shop owners just don't care enough about old milsurps to look for a difference, so they throw an M91 in with some refurb 91/30's and don't care to look for any markings or anything because it's "just another greasy beat up rifle" they want to get rid of.

My local shop certainly doesn't have that problem, the same Finn'ed Dragoon rifle has been sitting there for over a year marked at $350, I am really not buying any more rifles unless...

Keep looking! A local shop had a rack full of 91/30s, or mostly 91/30s, priced at $135. That's steep for a 91/30 but not bad for the Finn M28 and M91 I found mixed in the bunch!

As a rule, we can't afford to buy guns now. But when I can tel my wife its worth 2-3 times the price tag, her Scott heritage says "Grab it!"

The importers are just holding them back to avoid saturating the market, so they can still charge $140.

I do believe the "best" of the Mosin imports are already here, and now we're getting the Class B stuff, so to speak, with the counterbores and marginal bores, etc. I'm not seeing the quality of refurbs that I was back in 2003-04, with minty bores and beefy wood.

I 'm just glad I stocked up on Mosin when they were cheap! Now I see that Century is out of Mosins and haven't had any in stock for awhile. It makes me wonder if the supply is starting to run dry or are they just stuck in customs?

...Well, made my first and last stop at a local gun store/range today. Started looking around, saw two Mosins on the wall behind the counter. Looked closer. Both standard vanilla Russians, one an M44, the other a 91/30.

$279.00 for the M44.

$249.00 for the 91/30.

Entertained the thought of asking them if the price was negotiable, but I overheard the guy behind the counter in an arrogant toned discussion with a customer ahead of me. Nah. I'll save my...
