Stars Humphrey Bogart and others you will recognize. Wikipedia says it was filmed in Japan in 1949. No doubt the street scenes were filmed there so you get to
see the condition of Tokyo four years after the war. (In a lot of these old street scenes you see vehicles with smokestacks going down the street - any ideas
on how they worked?)


Anyway, Bogey used  to run a gin joint in Ginza before the war and returns to find it is still there. His wife was a singer... ]]>

I checked out the wood gas generator and followed some of the links to papers on this technology, some of which include plans. There are also videos on
youtube, it seems to be a popular topic for many people.

Some of the most interesting plans were for stoves of various sizes, some home built, some built by established companies. Some of these are suited for home

Sometimes in pics of occupied France similar vehicles burning coal can be see.
<br>
The motive power is obtained by using gasses formed during the incomplete combustion of coal/charcoal
<br>
as fuel in the cylinders of the modified gas engine.
