Value of Turk ammo in bandos???? |
Lead | |
|
I found 6 full bandoleirs of turk ammo that I no longer have a need for since I have gotten away from the 8mm weapons. They all have the stripper clips and
most are dated 1944 and some 1943. My question is, what are these going for. It has been so long ago, i have no idea what I even paid for them.
Any help will be appreciated!!! Anyone intersted in making an offer can email me stihlman@bellsouth.net Jeff |

I remember squawking about the price of the bandoliered Turk ammo when it hit $9.00 per bando. I know some have had issues with the Turk stuff, but I have been
a big fan of it ever since it came on the market over a decade ago. Why? Mainly because the price could not be beaten.
Oh well, those days are gone now, but a lot of us still have fond memories. I still have about a thousand rounds of Turk stashed away so I am good on 8mm stuff for a while, along with several thousand rounds of Yugo, Romanian, and German. Curt |

dutchmills,
The Ammo Store has it on their web site for $25.99 a bando of 70 rounds. I think that is the highest I have seen the Turk. |

As far as surplus ammo goes, I believe that the turk ammo has to be the hardest hitting surplus ammo out there. 5 or 6 years ago I had the guys
in the shop cut me a target out of 1/2 inch steel. I don't know the grade of steel etc etc, but at 75 yards , swinging off a fence line, the ammo
damn near penetrated it. Took the target and nailed it to a tree, same distance, but with resistance of the tree, and the ammo made a hole as
clean as if you drilled it.
Still have 3 or 4 cases of it left, but with reloading vrs cleaning corrosive, I prefer my handloads, but they can't match the power of the surplus. |

$10.00 a bando here.
I never did buy any real quantity of the Turk. Guess I was a little concerned about getting a bad lot or a lot that didn't shoot accurately. That said I haven't seen Turk lately even at the gunshows. A shop near by has some at $10.00 a bando, same as 5 years ago when I was appalled at that price!! Times do change.....think I've bought three of them in the last year but he's down to his last few. It certainly is some hard hitting ammo. I like to shoot it when my sons come home for a visit. Gives a whole new perspective on the word "flinch"! Esapecially with a 15 lb trigger that creeps! Fun stuff!! Draybo : ) |

Guess I'd better open up another crate of Turk & burn it up at the range before I come to my senses & decide to go sell it all. The last load I
hauled down from J&G was $29.95 a crate - $1.50 a bandolier
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.

Yeah, the last three bandos of Turk I picked up at a gun show were all $10 a piece.
At the last local show, they were $25.99/ea. I didn't see a single one sell. |

30.00 Bucks a crate!!!! Good thing I dont live in Arizona, I would have to have bought a great big pick up truck!! 15 or 20 crates would not have been out of
line. Bet those days are gone forever! DM

I recently bought 1400 rounds of 1951 Turk 8mm ammo but havent shot any yet. I have the opportunity to buy more at .18 a round but different years (1942 and
1943). Can anyone tell me anything about 1951, 1942 and 1943 Turk 8mm? Quality, accuracy, etc? I would also like to know about Greek 8mm if you can.

Dont know about the other years but I have a bunch of '43. Very nice ammo in my 24/47. All have gone bang so far and all are nice and clean.

Out of all the Turk I've bought and shot (about 5K fired and still have 5K left) The only year I had any problem with was 1947, which had split necks in
one lot where the bullets worked out of the casings if you weren't careful. I still fired it all with no noticeable problems. All the other 1947 I've
had was as good as any other year.
At one time I bought it from J&G for $26.50 per 10 bando case (plus freight). I heard the reason it all got burned-up was from class III use in MG42's. At 1200-1500 rounds per minute out of those lead hoses it's no wonder it all disappeared. |

Here in Alaska the machine gunners won't touch the Turk ammo. Over the years I accumulated quite a pile of the stuff, but oddly I can hardly give it away
at gunshows. It always cost $10.00 a bandoleer. I have tried to sell it for $13.00 a hundred lately and nobody even is interested. I am at the point I may pull
down several thousand rounds for the powder and projectiles as i will never shoot all that I have.
