....Would take the M1 Garand out of action until replaced. I think it is one spare part that all M1 Garand shooters should carry with them to the range.
Let me know what you think it is.
Thanks again
Clancy

I say the firing pin.

I also think it would be the firing pin. Either that or the bolt lugs, which are highly improbable. If the op rod broke, you could still single fire it by
operating the bolt manually.

The stock? Hammer? Trigger? Barrel? (yeah, it would be hard to BREAK a barrel.)
The M1 doesn't really have any "extra" parts, does it? |

I would say the op rod spring.

Onliest part I ever broke was the operating rod spring.
You could get a FP and stash it in the butt. |

The receiver, the trigger, the hammer, the firing-pin, the trigger-housing, the barrel, the bolt... If any of these "broke", depending on what "broke" means, the rifle would be rendered useless.

Based on my experience last week at the range it was the firing pin.........after 2 rounds.

Gentlemen,
Extractor Plus Spring and Plunger. It would cause the bolt and all of it parts to fall apart. Ejector plus spring and plunger. VERY hard to FIND in the grass or stone. I just carry a spart bolt. But then again I cheat. VERY OLD TRICK. Take the wife's RED nail polish and paint it on the springs and plungers. Looks goofy but helps when hunting them at the range or on the rug in the house. Thanks again Sir Clancy |
