Posts: 45 (12/07/07 11:08 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None A friend of mine's neighbor was having an estate sale and one of the items was a M1917 Winchester rifle that had been sporterized. I took a look at the rifle and the metal parts (although mix-matched R, E and W parts) and bore are in great shape. It appears that someone remove the handguard, front band and rear hand guard ring and cut the stock down. I am in the process of finding a correct "w" marked full miltary stock and bands. Can anyone suggest a good vendor for this? So far I have found Sarco inc. Also on the receiver, next to the flaming bomb, there is a circle with a star inside and on the underside of the barrel it is marked (vp) mns. My Eddystone doesn't appear to have marks similar to this Winchester...Anyone know what they mean? Thanks in advance for sharing you knowledge. The Eddystone on the bottom was one I picked up some time ago (it was a complete WWII rebuild). When I saw these two diamonds in the rough and realized that they weren't tapped and drilled I had to do my part to bing them back to there former glory. I put all correct Winchest parts (including the stock) back in the Winchester but the Remington is a mix of Remington and Eddystone parts (Remington stock). These rifles have earned there place in US history and any true US martial arms collector needs one in his/her collection. Although often overshadowed by its big brother the 1903 Springfield, these guns are a gem to shoot. With its longer barrel and more weigh, it recoil seems a bit more tolerable (no disrespect intended to the 03 which I also own). However if I was a US GI during the "Great War" I might have a slightly different opinion. The cock on close takes a bit to get used to and the ejector is as poor an invention as the rod bayonet was. Good luck with the P-13. If I ever see one at the Orlando or Melbourne shows I will email you. Springfield Sporters don't have them. Its the only two parts I need to make it complete. Thanks, Denny
