Posts: 155 (02/07/08 09:18 PM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Bought this way back in the beginning of October, but it took New Jersey and my Local Police Chief until Tuesday, Feb.5 to decide that I wasn't a mentally ill, degenerate, wife beating, illegal alien criminal who was drummed out of the Marines for drug addiction. I guess the pick-up date makes this baby a February aquistion. It's a 1922 Steyr model 1908/34. Has 90% blueing, maybe slightly higher percentage. Most of the small parts are turning a bright irridescent blue - the brighter blue really sets off the darker bluing. You can really see the contrast in colors in the pic with the two mags and the pic where the barrel has been broken open. Came with the correct holster and two spare original Steyr Mags. No import marks. All in all, I think it was a really nice find. .................................................. Here's a few Thumbnails to click on ............ ........ .................. What is the caliber, history, etc of that type of handgun?

I was just about finished late last night writing what ending up being quite a long entry about the Steyr. For some reason, I figured it would be a great idea to click the close button on my browser window. This morning I figured maybe I should just give you the links to the Web sites I was getting my information from. The site below has an amazing amount of information about Hungarian weapons from the Habsburg Empire to the present day. This is the most informative and best laid out page (of only three or four that I found) on the 1908/34. To see the entire site, click any of the lines at the top of the page - you won't be disappointed. http://www.sunblest.net/gun/Stey08.htm This site has some interesting information about the Steyr. For instance: To get around the WWI armistance treaty, Steyr, who also made automobiles, for a while included a 1908 with every car purchased in Germany. http://randyrick.us/AustrianFirearms/pm1909.htm These were the two main pages that I found. Came home Friday with an all matching and close to excellent 1908 Brazilian long Mauser for $400. I have wanted a long Brazilian for a while as I have 5 Brazilian bayonets that have nothing to attach to. Then a little further along I found a guy selling a CMP Remington 1903 and talked him down to $450 which was the CMP price before they were no longer available (and he threw in a new web sling). Remington has perfect Greek black park and a mirror 4 groove bore. Except for the lower band, she looks to be all milled parts. Currently in a very solid but unmarked 03A3 stock. I am VERY happy with both. SWMBO less pleased (something about me not "needing" any more guns...what is THAT about???). SWMBO got a very nice digital camera for Christmas so perhaps I am close to being able to post digital pics.

Picked her up for the price of $300.00 in Woodstock Ga. Can't wait to get to the range and see how she performs. Like I said, not an Enfield, but I couldn't pass her up. Regards, Diego

Not quite a Relic, perhaps a Curio. The Taurus Web site had no info about it, the folks at Taurus USA say it predates their records, and I haven't gotten a reply to my Brazilian E-mail. The Internet however, never lets you down. S/N: B255XX: Maybe there's a Taurus maven out there can help with S/N? Mag release on bottom of left handgrip was used between 1980-1983. Curved trigger guard first introduced in 1983. So if my Web sources are correct, it has a 1983 manufacture date. Firearm itself is in excellent condition inside and out. Looks like it was used a few times (if that) then put away for the next twentyfive years. Even the magazine is in like new condition. .............................................Click on the Thumbnails .......... ...................................................
