P 14 Question - hope this is the right forum |
Lead | |

Found a P 14 Eddystone at the Valley Forge show last Sunday. Thought sure there was something wrong with it...all matching including the stock, a very small
Century import mark, and a bore that can only be described as absolutely mint. The price was too reasonable- 325- and I was surprised. When did these start
coming back in, or am I looking at really old inventory? Wonder why no one else snapped this up- with the prices I've seen lately, it would seem very odd
it was still there Sunday at noon. Anybody have a line on these?

Seems good to me | ||

I got an arsenel refinished Remington P-14 a few years back...all matching, PERFECT (refinished) metal, no import marks, refinished Winchester stock, mirror
bore. I paid $300 after negotiating. Never even shot it yet.

I have not seen a P14 at the shows for less than $500 as of yet. If I saw one for that price in the shape you describe it would go home with me for sure.

I decided that instead of having yet another caliber of ammo (.303 for the P14) to go with the US M1917 (.30-06). Since, except for minor differences, they
are virtually the same rifle

freedom".

Don't forget, some M17 bolts will fit some P14's.
Mine had a M17 bolt in it when I got it. I ended up spending more on the rifle than I gave for it. $100 out the door, $150 in repairs. Not only did it have the wrong bolt the barrel was messed up. replaced both. It is healthy now and shoots good. skd

I got a P'14 from phoenix distributors last fall at the Harrisburg show, for the same price and condition. From what Ive heard (which may not be true)
these came out of India, and they are (at least mine) recent century imports. Hope that helps.

Eddie, that may solve the mystery. I get suspicious when good quality stuff simply appears........thanks

Nice buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like to shoot my 303 better than my 30/06, a lot less recoil. |

Nice find Bill! I have a P14 that I "stole" about 6 years ago for $250 (along with a Lithgow No1MkIII for $175) simply because I found them on the
trader before anyone else. I also have a M1917 and one day I took both to the range with some ball ammo. Firing LC in the M1917 and South African in the P14
the P14 shot much smaller groups. You've got a winner there!

Hips Ax, you're absolutely right. Took it out with my youngest son on Sunday to see how it would shoot with some older reloads, 180s over H4895. There were
two very nice young Hispanic gentlemen there with their WASR-10s, big shirts, head scarves and all....just shows how wrong a stereotype can be. Jose and Alex
could not have been more polite and considerate as they watched as the old '14 put 5 shots under an inch....couldn't do it again if I tried! Of course,
I tried to act like it happened every day.....we stopped shooting and had us a history lesson right there. They were originally from Philadelphia, and knew
where the Boeing Vertol plant was, near the interesection of 95 and 476....site of the old Baldwin Locomotive Works, where Eddystones were born. It was a great
moment. They vowed to "get themselves some history" soon as they "saved up some dinaro."
I hope your '14 shoots as well as this one. Could be the best buy all year. Happy Dance (ever see a buffalo ballet?)
