Spray brake cleaner works for me. Follow with WD-40 to loosen things up. You have to remove the pin on the left side of the receiver to remove the sight. Easy
to do, also easy to damage.

The large pin that holds them to the receiver has a slot in the head and some think it is a screw, but it is not-it is a pin. And the large pin is held in
place with a very small pin (as TKacook says, you must remove the small pin on the left side of the receiver before you can drive out the large pin). The
little pin is easy to loose. Once you get the large pin out, there is a spring loaded piece that bears against the bottom of the sight. Be careful you
don't lose them. I have used a small finishing nail with the point clipped off to remove the small pin--it is very small! Not difficult, just don't
force anything.
