Sent my best stock off to them for a pattern. Should have a sample for review in 2 or 3 weeks. The bad news is the price was more than I think most of you will like. I hope to be able to keep it under $200.00. Will have to see how the in coming freight works out. So any input would be appreciated. Swede Nelson HARD TO FIND GEW 88 PARTS

If you're lucky, you could find an entire Gew 88 for that price already with a nice stock... What would I pay??? Hmmm... The most I'd pay (considering they're REALLY nice) would probably be $150 give or take. But that's just me- because I've got a butt-less (up to the crossbolt) Gew 88 that would look really purty in a new stock.... I dunno. We'll see what happens. Words can't express my gratitude for at least pursuing these 'hard to get parts' though Swede' Which by the way, I just need to get one more 'load' of ammo, then by another paycheck or two- I'll be able to get some bolt parts (and then hopefully a stock ) -Palimino

Quick, everyone pretend we don't want it I emailed Sarco's about their "Turkish Gew88" stocks, but haven't received a reply yet. It has been a few days. Perhaps they are out =/ $200 is a big chunk of change.. but.. like someone else said, we'll see what happens. Although I think that price is going to keep me out of things.. but we'll see. Would the stocks be laminated? What kind of wood is being used? -spike

Trying to keep things as authentic as possible. Also trying to get the best work done to keep the hand finishing to something that any one with a little skill can finish and have a good stock. I thought it might go as high as 250. I'll buy one for sure as I have some barreled receivers that need stocks and there just are not that many decent stocks out there. I bet if you priced out a repro stock for the 71/84 that it would be a lot more. The stocks that repro stocks that Numrich had were going for a little over $100 and they were some type of wood stained to look like walnut and the posts I've seen about them said they looked terrible in person.

Posts: 962 (09/10/07 10:32 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	No bad news there, going price for a turned military stock with press fit for the parts and a small amount to allow for sanding to finish of any type will run anywhere from $180 to $240. $200 is quite reasonable. Anyone that says they can do it for less is mistaken or is working for next to nothing, the wood alone will run higher than most expect. Sounds like you will have a good product Swedenelson.

Had a conversation with the stock maker last week and didn't post it. Stocks are out to December. He didn't elaborate on what was going on. We played phone tag for a day and then left a message on my phone. I hope this doesn't turn in to another long term project. Will try to keep all up dated better. Look very good. There will be a fair amount of hand work to finish one. The two that I got in are sold all ready. But I'm taking orders for the next run of six. I have 4 or 5 walnut GEW 88 stocks that I'm siting on. Their was a lot of talk about getting new stocks, but sales have been very small. I think if you can price them under $150.00 you will have better luck than me. My goal was to keep the price below $200.00. I have them priced at $198.00 plus S/H and loose about $15.00 a stock. I would be interested in one of your stocks when you get them going. I would like to give it a honest review and post the outcome here. It would make me very happy if you could produce a high quality stock at a better price. I have several of these in need of decent walnut stocks. I'm still working on the GEW88 stock from Swede. I've fitted the butt plate, trigger guard, and most of the barrel an action. I have been taking some time getting feedback from various forums and it seems what everyone wants is a Gew88 stock that is fully inletted, fitted, and rough sanded. Pretty much a stock that just needs final sanding and finishing all for under $200.00 . I am going to see what I can do. I have alot of Vz-52 stocks to finish this week but hopefully by the end of the week I will have a Commission rifle stock to sell. Mark, I will be working on some M71/84 stocks in the future. Next on my list is SVT-40's and the 71/84's are after them
