I have a nice 8mm Hakim.......what is the best (economics in mind as well) 8mm NON CORROSIVE ammo out there?
Need to cycle the action....thinking about using it in a shooting match coming up.

8mm Mauser Ball (8x57JS)
2000 ROUND CASE
Looks like I missed that boat. Might try something else. It apparently was "corrosive" anyway.....I wish to avoid that!

I read somewhere that the S&B is not good for 8mm semi autos. I have a feeling you are going to pay alot of money for non-corrosive fodder. I use 50s and
best of all 70s yugo in my FN49 then clean appropriately. Can't say I have messed with a Hakim so I don't know how tough it would be to clean up after
corr ammo. Do you reload?

You might try SOG, as all their milsurp ammo is non-corrosive!

If your gonna use it in a match maybe you should just pop for some the cheapest Remchesteral ammo you can find? It'll probably out shoot any of the surplus
to boot! Not sure if Wolf, or Privi Partisan makes 8mm or not? I've read that the S&B isn't good for the Hakim.
I'd do some reasearch on Winchester 8mm as I know that the Winchester 7.62x54r is made by S&B for Winchester. |

The 1970's dated Portuguese I fired through my 98k's and other things of 7.92 caliber never showed any sign of corrosion after firing.
That is the first I've ever seen any mention of it from the seller. Try SARCO in NJ for the ammo next, they used to advertise it in their SGN ads. Is there a requirement for milsurp ammo, or can it be any type, in regard to FMJ, JSP, JHP, Cast LRN, etc? Check with all of the usual suspects for some Pervy-Partisan type stuff in 20 round boxes. I'll look around today on line and see what I can find.

In my experience, the best stuff for the Hakim is the Romanian steel-cased light-ball, which was fairly common a few years ago. It IS corrosive, but it's
pressure curve it just about perfectly suited to the Hakim's gas system.
