It was built early in late May or June of 1945 under the new French occupation of the Mauserwerke's. It features French stars in various places and one waa135 waffenampt on the barrel block. The new stainless Smith's are tough, built like tanks and dead reliable but they just lack the character of the old pinned-barrel Smiths. I just got done shooting an early 70's S&W .44 Magnum (The Dirty Harry gun!) and my 80's vintage Dallas-Ft. Worth Police trade in stainless Smith .38 4". I also may (funds permitting) go back for a near mint Colt Police Positive .38 Special I saw at a shop last week, and maybe cut a deal on the more holster worn .38 S&W Colt he has too.

Posts: 161 (07/17/08 12:04 PM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Got two rifles this month, a Finn'd 1909 Sestroryetsk M91 (no Pics yet) and a 1890 Danzig Gew 1888/05 Commision rifle that was slathered in cosmoleen inside and out. Here it is after a totalstripping and thorough cleaning I'm real happy that it's the 1905 conversion. Means I won't blow my face up firing the "modern" 8mm spitzer. Winchester and Remington both have expensive 8mm, but you can buy Hotshot 139 Grain Soft Point for 12.95 a box on the internet if you look around. Looks good and fills a big hole in my collection.

You did well with the cleaning job. I'd love to get hold of one of those one day. Here's what I got today & yesterday: I didn't include the IMR4064 powder and I already used up one pack of 7.62 bullets for the .308 loads and the 32-20 brass and bullets.

I picked up the 82 when they first came out and all it had with it was the pistol and one mag. I've remedied everything but the cleaning rod and lanyard in regard to getting it up to "complete" status. I'm going to use the 82 for my CCW class next week.

Did you note that the pistol is also enameled on the inside of the slide opposite the ejection port, to resist rusting from the corrosive powder gases? I think that letter suffix is an 'F' which would put the production date around 1947.

I am trying to acquire, in the future, every military caliber ever produced. That 7.65 Longue is one that I need! Today's acquisition was a chrome lined 1985 production new-old stock USGI chrome lined .45 ACP barrel for my Springfield Armory 1911A1, I may not have the real deal yet as far as a 1911A1 but at least the barrel of my Brazilian made clone is GI now. I need to pop off a few rounds tomorrow to see if I have to drift the rear sight for the new barrel. I love my CZ-82 and wouldn't hesitate to carry it. My Dad uses my CZ-85 9mm as a glovebox gun, because like the 82, it's reliable, has a hammer block to keep the hammer off the pin,high cap magazine, is a DA,and very accurate. I love the Czech guns. The CZ-82's I've seen these days include 2 mags, holster,cleaning rod and a lanyard.......an excuse to buy another one if you need the accessories! I might go pick up a very nice .38 Special Colt Police Positive tomorrow, if I can get it below $350........saw it in a local gun shop and I might treat myself to one more toy before I head back for 4 more months in the sandbox. Right now I'm fighting the urge to go to the Dixie Gun Works website and order myself a Uberti 1860 Army...also saw a nice used Glock 17 9mm today....too much temptation! I may have to settle for a brass frame .36 "Reb Navy" just to satisfy my need for a hogleg to play with.
