He's on the northside of Brisbane and has bits for everything. I can't find his business card at the moment. Check the Yellow Pages or speak to Rebels for his contact details (he deals from home). 8mm is not very popular over here so you may get lucky, but I suspect you'll probably have been beaten to it.

Have known him for years. He's a good guy! He bought 1,000 guns for $2.000.00 and most are parts guns. He told me he has some K98k barrels in the lot but must find them and hopefully will by the next show (August 30-31) He says (and certainly must confirm) he has some excellent bore K98ks barrels that were taken off vet bring backs in the late 40's and 50's. This may not pan out but the guy usually is accurate in his descriptions so I am hopeful they are found and what he remembers is accurate. I know that is a month off but it is all I have right now. I have been doing a few 308 conversions because I see ammo/reloading component availability and price forcing my extensive shooting in that direction but as you might guess the bad bores are the ones getting rebarreled. I have taken some off frosted or semi dark that shot great but they are just not worth trying to sell. If you wish to consider doing any K98k in 308 cole has Norwegian replacement barrels in 308. These are short chambered (no lathe work required) and were made specifically to rebarrel K98k into 308 so are the same steps and contour as a K98k 8MM barrel. These are brand new never mounted and have no sites so you would have to remove and reuse the sites from the old 8MM barrel. I shoot these as good as 1.5inches at 100yds with military bulk bullets and iron sites and 3/4 inch with Nosler 155gr seconds with my sniper version. I do not know how long these will last as more people realize there will be no more cheap 8MM. I will post anything on the 8MM barrels after the gun show one way or the other. Remember, if these are take off from vet bring backs and are excellent bores the sites will all match the rest of the barrel which by itself would be cheap considering what the front and rear sites off the gun would be worth. We usually have a gun show in Brisbane in February and November and Harry is usually there but you'll want to contact him before then. One of the guys at our club bought a 308 Israeli barrel at one show and used it to replace a shot-out 8mm one. I think he paid $100 and it is in excellent condition. He uses cast projectiles through it and it shoots very well (1" @ 100yds).
