Ruger Air Hawk range report |
Lead | |
|
I took it to the range this morning and with the scope at 50' off sand bags shot the following group: 8 shots within 1 3/4", 7 of those within 1
1/8", and 6 and slightly less than 1". Pellets were Ruko match grade. I don't know enough about air guns to know if that's good or bad. I
guess it would take care of vermin at that distance. Carl

I'ev got one sitting in a cart at SG, I haven't completed the order yet, but your report has me tempted to go "check out".
Did you get the normal stock or the thumbhole?

I got the regular stock. Carl

That's the one I've got in the cart.
I can't take to those thumbhole stocks for various reasons. I feel like Charlton Heston, (or some would say Dr. Zaius) in a late 60's early 70's series of movies when I pick one up.

I live in the wrong state! | ||

I live in one of the states SG can't ship too. That looked like a heck of a deal.

My Daisy 880 will put 10 Beeman's coated wadcutter pellets inside a dime sized spot at 75 feet/25 yards. Other pellets don't perform nearly as well.
The Beemans wadcutter is longer than most and appears to contact the rifling on closure of the prod, perhaps it pre engraves. The added length increases stability. The modest velocity of the Daisy may contribute to its unexpectedly good accuracy for such a cheap airgun. Try the Beeman Pellets. Accuracy will improve as the gun gets broken in and you get used to the trigger. Also airguns, like archery, often require a certain amount of follow through due to slower lock time and longer barrel time compared to firearms. |

I've got a Crosman power master 66. I've never shot it off a bench, but if I do my part it is supprisingly accurate. My late Father-in law killed
rabbits & squirrels with it in his back yard. I prefer a rimfire for anything that big, but I live in the country. The city is getting closer. I never
shoot my C&R's in the back yard any more. That's why I keep thing I may want a bigger gun.

I GOT MY AIR HAWK ELITE [THE THUMB HOLE VERSION] FROM MIDWAY AND IM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. IT SHOOTS DIME SIZE GROUPS AT 50 FT. WITH RWS PELLETS. I ADJUSTED THE
TRIGGER DOWN TO ONE LB. THE DIRECTIONS FOR ADJUSTING THE TRIGGER WERE BACKWARDS THOUGH.

Wife vetoed the purchase for the next little bit.
I didn't feel like pushing the issue over an air rifle, so I let it go (for now).
