These rifles were used by the German Bundeswehr when it was formed in the early 1950s along with other quality guns, like the SIG P210/4, and soldiers where still encouraged in those days to sharpen their marksman's skills.

Anschütz German Army (Bundeswehr) training rifle |

I have a German Army training rifle in excellent conditon that I want to share a photo with you guys here. It was built in 10/56 on the famous Anschütz 54
action and has a trigger pull as expected from this fine heritage.
These rifles were used by the German Bundeswehr when it was formed in the early 1950s along with other quality guns, like the SIG P210/4, and soldiers where still encouraged in those days to sharpen their marksman's skills.

Interesting rifle. I have never seen a post war training rifle from Germany. With it's roots it should drive tacks.

When Germany formed a new military in 1953, they still issued an instructional manual for shooting the carbine K98k. Marksmanship was ever bit as much stressed
as it was in the days of the Wehrmacht. In this manual, it is mentioned that shooting fast has to be practiced regularly with rimfire rifles.
I guess when the military changed to the FN FAL as the G1, then to the G3, and now to the plasticky G36, the lessons learned during the war where forgotten with the newly found fire power and the combat veterans retired. I was born in Germany and remember that I was shooting such a .22 rifle in the military as a kid and when I served during the late 70s, those guns were still in the armoury but rarely ever used anymore to my knowledge. Mine has about 98% blueing left and the stock was varnished with what appears a linseed oil mix, as it had been applied to the K98k. The stock is still in much, much better condition than the wooden stocks of the early Cetme G3s that we were issued. |

Great looking rifle, and one I have never seen before. Always interested in seeing what else is out there to add to a collection of trainers. Thanks for
posting it.

I also posted this on Rimfirecentral in the Anschütz section and learnt that Century has them listed and that there is another source, as well. Seems not that
rare after all but mine is in great condition and I love it, rare or not!
