I just bought the rifle in the subject line and have a couple of questions. I've posted this in the CZ Forum but thought I'd take my chances here
(wider audience?).
I've put about 60 rounds through the rifle now (in 3 range sessions) and the first shot on a cool barrel always goes about 2-3 inches higher than the
following shots. When I say cool barrel I don't mean clean barrel. The barrel cools down while I change targets and then the first shot after I've done
this will go high.
1. I've noticed that the front stock cross-bolt is tightened down as far as it will go but the whole thing will spin in the stock - why? I haven't
pulled the action out of the stock yet - probably should to have a look. The stock bolt is clearly different to military Mauser design (which is square and
doesn't spin in the stock) and maybe the action doesn't make contact with it at all and it just reinforces the timber?
2. There is an L shaped metal lug in the rifle packing box that is supposed to go behind the rear sight lug in the stock. When and why should this be fitted to
the rifle?
3. Anything to do with the previous two questions that'll explain the high first shots? It does seem like a bedding issue to me but maybe it'll get
better the more I fire it?
I haven't experimented with loads much yet but the best group I've got so far is 1 1/2" at 100yds but typically 2-3". It should be better
than this shouldn't it?
I had a Brno 602 in the same calibre many years ago and it shot 1" at 100yds consistently and without any stock tinkering at all, I'm sure this one
should do similar?
