Posts: 11 (11/22/08 12:29 PM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Now don't get me wrong I'm not for the Gun bann or against the M1 garand I do not have one since I collect the great Bolt Action rifles of history and do all of my shooting with either my Lee Enfields or My Springfield.We can all figure that the Assault weapons ban will go in sometime during President Obamas first term.Personally I don't think things will be as bad as was first believed.Now what does worry me is this reference made to semi auto rifles.For the sake of you folks who get so much enjoyment out of the M1,it is my fond hope that our new Pres. will have a little respect for your rifle in as much as it represents a great part of American history.I'm licensed by the ATF and NYS,and seriously I limit my collection to rifles.I've thought about buying an M1,but really that steps outside my collection genre.Personally I don't care what he does with the AK47,SKS or M16 they're all junk as far as I'm concerned(I carried the M16 in Vietnam.Who knows it better than we Nam vets) You Garand guys have a rifle you can be proud of I know I first went in in 1958 when the M1 was on the way out.I know what a great rifle it is.I enjoy some fine shooting with the Lee Enfield,the Springfield 03A3,my M1938Mosin and the M39 Finnish Mosin.Here in Nassau county NY we shooters have to buy soft tip or hollow point ammo because of range regulations,so I keep my sights set on weapons for which there is soft tip available.This leaves out most 6mm and 7mm.Now can I buy soft tip for a Krag I'll find out Good luck guys and God bless Paul M

Everyone thinks it's OK if you legislate away what the other guys are doing as long as you leave me alone. I got news for you bud, people who don't like motorcycles, or guns, don't know the difference and don't care that there is one. If they can take away my FAL then sooner or later they are going to find an excuse to take away your Krag. I had assumed that I was talking to Garand enthusiasts.So far as your friend Patriotic is concerned and this is MY OPINION I saw the AK 47 used in Vietnam and the SKS used in Korea.While I have a great regard for Foreign made rifles I still reserve the right to my opinion.The original M16 We threw the G-----n in the rice paddies it was so bad.As a matter of fact that is where my Mosin is from I TOOK IT OFF A DEAD NORTH VIETNAMESE SOLDIER!! What rthe hell is the matter with you people I came on this forum thinking I would be dealing with INTELLIGENT people ,and not JERKS!! Tell me Bill are there any gun forums where the members are at least Mature?? I'll try Milsurps after dark

First, I would like to thank you for your service to our country. I have the utmost respect for our Vets. I can see from your post how you came to feel the M16 is junk. I agree the first ones were. I personally think we should have stayed with the M14. The other two, I'm guessing, you dislike because they were used by the enemy you fought. Correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, I apologize for offending you. You have a right to your opinions, and the right to express them. I have a right to dissagree about the value of these rifles. Let's not let opinions get in the way of freindly discussion.

But on three different occasions the North Korean patrols snuck across the DMZ and set up ambush traps.They used the Chinese SKS.Here too I saw my brothers hit by them. I worry about our soldiers in Iraq,but Colt finally got it right with the new M4 which is a good weapon and the two sniper rifles The Army's M24 and the Marines M40 and M40A1What I find completely incomprensible is the street crime rant about the AK47,not that I like the rifle,but I cannot see it blamed for something it is not responsible for.Can any one actually cite a particular time when The AK47 was actually used in crime in our country? I'm being Facetious I know.As opposed to the number of countries where their soldiers do carry this weapon. I believe this is better than half the world's Armies..Getting back to my original complaint They say some of semi auto will be included in the assault weapons ban.I just do not want to see a rifle as revered and respected as the M1 Garand getting caught in this muck and mire

The K98k Israeli,the K98 Karabiner,the Gew 98,or the Enfield #1MK4.It will be one of them I have to stick to rifles for which I can buy soft tip or hollow point ammo.Anything 7mm or 6.5mm is out for now. I will buy in January.aside from the C&R site anyone that has one of those to sell let me know. I am C&R licensed..Now finally I need input on one very important point.Buying overseas Like Canada or England My license is not enough Exactly what do I need,or whom? Thanks

The latest assault weapons ban covers just about everything but single shots. The Obama administration will lay the groundwork for eventual gun bans, & registration of all firearms.
