Favorite 1911 mags? |

Just looking for any recommendations of solid, reliable 1911 magazines (8 round capacity). Which are the most reliable, durable and best quality for the
price?
Thanks for your time- Pat |

I buy Chip McCormick stainless. Never had a problem.

Thanks Max. I probably should have added the question about whether you guys agree with the Larry Vickers' wisdom to use only original factory mags,
instead of aftermarket examples. Any thoughts?
Thanks- Pat |

I also favor the Chip McCormick "power mags." I have used both Wilson and CM mags in IPSC competition for a few years. I've had a few plastic
Wilson followers crack, and the lips of the Wilsons seem to spring out over time. I've never had either issue with the McCormicks.
With the 1911, I think the aftermarket mags are far better than most gun manufacturers ship with the new pistols- Wilson, Baer, and Ed Brown excluded of course. A lot of the guys with far more pistol experience than myself will also recommend to stick w/ 7 round mags. I have never had an issue with the 8 round CM mags, and I have a few mags that have seen thousands of rounds. I think the decision to go w/ 8 round mags should be based on a bunch of range trips to see if they create any issues in a particular pistol.

Thank you Bryan, that sounds like great advice. I have a completely virgin (hopefully not for much longer...) Taurus PT1911B that I need to shoot and assess for compatibility with the included factory 8 round mags. I think Santa might need to include about four Chip McCormicks in his oh so voluminous bag o' goodies...
By the way, what are 'power mags'? Thanks, Pat |

I have used the standard Chip McCormick mags also, and never had any issues with them either. But, I have more rounds through the Power Mags, so I have a
little more to base an opinion on with these.
