M39's are great rifles, but M91's really turn my crank. If you want a rifle to shoot great groups(usually) then the M39 is the only way to go. If you
like the idea of owning a great piece of history, then choose the M91 - Many M91's are worn, but they earned that look.

I'm with Pathu.
The M39 is a fine rifle, but I find myself gravitating toward the M91s more than any other Mosin Nagant, both in Finn and non-Finn rifles. |

M39s are usually very good shooters, but the 91s have more historical provenance. Some of the '91s are no slouch when it comes to accuracy. I have a 1895
vintage '91 Tula with a 1940 Tikka barrel that shoots as well as my 1944 Sako M39.

These guys above are all right on the mark! Only one thing to add you had better move quickly as Heaven knows what Dr. O the saviour of all has in mind for our
2nd Amendment Rights? Good Luck! Bill

Over the years I've had them all, and the M39 is my all time favorite as a shooter. The worst shooting M39 I ever had, still shot pretty good (3" @
100yds). I love 'em.

Don't forget the 91/59. It is not a shabby carbine by a long shot.

Online auctions or WTB on Gunboards(I dunno if there is such a forum here..) are the quickest bet for a M91 - Around here, it is a rare day to find a M91 at a
show.

PaulM wrote:PaulM, Get one of each, then you can't go wrong. I currently have four M39's, and three M91's. Don't ask me to choose between the two, because I couldn't. Both have very deep history, with the edge going to the M91. I just added a Finn M91 with a Remington receiver, and a 1940 Tikka barrel, that I got from Empire Arms to my collection. Dennis rates his rifles accurately, including the bore condition, several pics, and shipping is the actual UPS amount to ship the rifle. I think he still has several M39's, and M91's currently up for sale. I've also bought numerous antique M39's from Wholesale Gun Co., they also rate/picture their rifles very accurately, as well. Happy collecting. Michael |

Mike: I would buy from Dennis in a heart beat but he refuses to come off his gotta use your plastic. I buy only with a money order or certified check and
Dennis Kroh will not listen to reason. I tell him compute the [price plus shipping and tax and I'll send you the payment. He has the best stuff out
there, but I will not buy with my credit cards. They are needed for other things, not my gun hobby. Thanks for the input I'll keep looking Paul M

I've also had quite a bit of friction with Empire arms and I know that I am not the only one.

Mike just worked out something with Dennis and yes I will buy from him in Jan. Saw his latest and I'm looking forward to what He has in stock in Jan when I
buy,but probably will buy another mosin. Also considering expanding my enfield, and I have not given up on the K98 Dennis usually has some good ones when he has
them. My only probablem with the K98 is can I find soft tip or hollow point ammo for an 8mm. mY RR out here will not allow military jacket ammo. That's the
beauty of the Enfield or Mosin I can get soft tip or hollow point for both. The Enfields all fire 303.or 30-06.The Mosins are 7.62 and there is soft tip
available for them Anyhow Enjoy Thanksgiving

Look around a bit. Remington has made their Core-Lokt bullets in 8mm Mauser for many years. They are puny loads, only about 2100 fps with a 170 grain slug, but
before the mass influx of 8mm milsurp ammo that started about a dozen years ago, that is about all we had to shoot in our 8mm Mausers, unless we could find
someone to load it for us. There may be others loading it now also, so simply look on the shelves at the places that sell rifle ammo.
