Barrel date 1938. Someone varnished the stock I guess it does shine alot. Pics when I get the dang comptr back up to speed. I dont see these much are they common? Thanks. Doug. My stock does match but I wouldn't be surprised to find mismatched furniture. Probably happened during the conversion. Like any other milsurp, having all matching bits does bring a premium but finding an R35 w. mismatched furniture wouldn't raise my eyebrow. You should get rid of the shiny varnish. Just protect any marks and stay away from the sandpaper. If you're lucky to still have the original black enamel finish on the metal don't touch it. Too many French milsurps from this period have had their "ugly" enamel stripped off. I have one in my French collection and was luck enough to snag it 3-4 yrs ago for a pittance ($100). I've never been motivated to shoot it though I wanted to I would probably work up a reduced load for it and my Berthier carbines. I've always enjoyed shooting my MAS49s so much that the Lebels and Berthiers have sat in the safe.

Looks like the paint is gone too. Got it cheap . Here is a pics or 4. Doug.
