I have a Turked Gew 98 whose bolt will only fire rounds off every other click! Crazy.

Couldn't it simply be a firing pin and/or spring issue? Have you tried a Wolf spring?

Sounds like 1950's Yugo ammo combined with a weak firing-pin spring.

I have a fix for that.
You may think the interior of the bolt is clean after spraying and soaking but a lot of times it just ain't so. I take a metal coat hanger, cut a straight section about a foot long with a pair of electrician's pliers. This leaves a flat edge on the end. Spray some carburator cleaner into the stripped down bolt body from the safety end, then have at it with the coat hanger, especially in the firing pin hole and the surface leading to it. Carb clean it again and watch the crud flow out. Repeat. Dry and lightly oil, reassemble. You can test your results by first dropping the firing pin only down inside the bolt body and measuring the protrusion. Then do it again after cleaning to see the difference. Dave

I've got a 98/22 bolt that has loose bolt sleeve/bolt body threads. That is, when you screw the bolt sleeve into the bolt, there is a good bit of play when
you push/pull the bolt sleeve. When you pull the trigger, the cocking piece hits the bolt sleeve and pushes it forward before it moves the firing pin. This
gives light FP strikes and mis-fires.

Can you post a picture of that? I might have one you can try that may fit better.

It's not the ammo, as I was shooting Turk surplus (that was 100% in my 98/22). I did put in a Wolf spring.
I'll give the bolt a good cleaning like was suggested. I really don't want to use my new bolt in this Turk, as I want to use it in a 7mm Steyr I'm building up. hsc |

Lots of Turk firing pins have been "fixed" by Osman the Ten-Thumbed Armorer. Some have the ends busted off or worn. Some were too long and never
filed down, pucturing primers. Some are stuck in blots full of gunk, I found one bolt body backed with burlap!
Mine are all locked up and sealed in bags right now but I'm sure there's a rule of thumb of checking correct firing pin length from the visible extrusion or lack in the 03/38 and the 93. Help, anyone, for fabber39, high speed cruise, et al? |

Fabber39, check the tip of your FP for burs. I had the same problem with a M1895 Chilean Mauser. I found a bur on the tip, and after stoning it down, I
haven't had that rifle pierce any more primers.
