I did order some Albanian 7.62 x 564r from Century which was on sale last month for $62 for 440 rounds. Albanian is my favorite and generally the most accurate in a wide variety of Mosins. I must already have close to 10K rounds of it but a little more won't hurt. I also included a cheap scope in the order. It's for my Ruger Ranch rifle which I've owned for about 12 years but have never fired. I'm slow. Carl

The ammo and firing pin marking thing was already floated once here in CT and was tabled in committee, but NY and PA are reconsidering it so I'm sure we won't be far behind. It's a shame that this once-proud firearms manufacturing state has forgotten it's heritage. My congresscritters were already tired of hearing from me - they are probably thinking "Now we're really in for it from that guy!" Mike

He now wants to buy a rifle and shotgun. I asked for what purpose? He said self defence. I offered my suggestions but quickly backed off as I didn't want to be anyway connected to his purchases since he's a FL resident living in DE 50% of the time and I'm in MD. I'll order a DSA receiver this week and expect we'll have enough time before the antis move to get it built. Like everyone has said, it's coming. Just a matter of when. My guess is that after Obama and Congress fail on the economy they'll go looking for some quick political victories and we're a convenient whipping boy to them. Personally I think it's a stupid move but Liberals (no "Progressive" crap from me, man up to what you are) seem to have elevated gun control to a religious-like dogma, throwing all reason out the window. But heaven help us if Obama has the opportunity to shift the balance of power on the Supreme Court. That would be a disaster.

I have kept aside a few pieces some ammo but not a lot of hoarding. I mainly keeping the domestic calibers incase surplus is eventually out of the picture. I'm thinking the president elect won't do anything on guns in a 1st term. he will need to keep the Uber left on a leash to keep centric . Any decision he does make will be challanged on many levels that is the biggest obstical to any gun reform. It is all a roll of the dice we will just have to see how it all plays out.

Been picking up a little ammo at every gun show I go to but this is something I usually do anyway. Most of my collection is Stevens single shots that will be the last thing they come after. My Military collection is another thing. I plan on keeping my C&R forever. For $10 a year it is a bargan if I never use it. Those who worry about a paper trail should remember that evey gun you buy through an FFL has a paper trail to you. My logic is that the C&R gives makes me a federaly liscensed collector so I should be the last one they try to take guns away from. May not work but I realy doubt that they will ever have the guts to actually come after them. The government does not have the resources, money, and manpower to physicaly go after every gun owner. Heck, they can't even collect anywhere near all the taxes actually owed!

I saw a post from a DPMS rep on another forum. He said they have more rifles on back order right now than they sold in '07.

I haven't posted in forever...but read here almost daily. As far as guys letting thier C&R's expire due to what might be coming under the new administration, I don't really see the point. Once you have had one I figure you are on the Fed's radar forever. If a hardcore registration/confiscation ever came, they still know who you are. I can't imagine them going in and deleting all record of you as a gun owner if you let your license expire. I lived in Illinois most of my life and once you have been issued a FOID its enough to mark you right there. As for me I will keep mine as I need the dealer discount for reloading supplies. I could be wrong but I imagine there are "backdoor registration" methods we havn't even thought of.

He was a little paranoid and thought he was immune to any gun grabber legislation. I pointed out that he had been buying a hunting license every year in at least 3 different states for the past 40 years. So much for being under the radar. I'm not that paranoid.

True, they know who you are, but C&R holders are not required to keep their bound books after license expiration, so the Feds can't find out specifically what guns you own by examining it. If it looks like somewhere down the road (very unlikely) that the wholesalers are getting different affordable and interesting units in that I want en masse I may re-up, but I doubt it.

" To this, there is no need. We kept the records, the feds know nothing of what we acquired with the license unless we were audited. The fed only has a record that we applied for and got a license to collect, nothing more.
