Yugo 1924 |

I have a Yugo 1924 (not the 24/47) well I have the barreled receiver anyway. I am looking for a new stock to drop it into. I want to keep the military look to
it so I was wondering if the Yugo M48 stock would fit my rifle, if not what would fit it? Any help?

Howdy Red and welcome to the parallax site's Yugo Mauser forum.
Two things... 1. Yes, your action will fit in an M48 stock. 2. You don't want to do that. That royal crest just won't look right in an M48 stock. What you should so is get a 24/47 walnut stock. That will be far more correct. It's your choice of course. As it happens, I had a 1924 royal in an m48 stock-
Here it is in a 24/47 stock-

You should be able to find the correct 24 (24/47) stock with a little looking. Here's a 24/47 stock at Numrich.

The M24/47 stock is the same style as the original M24 stock - flat buttplate, sling swivels on the bottom, etc. The correct style stock will preserve value
better in case you want to sell it in the future. Both M24/47 and M48 stocks should fit the Yugo M24 action, though.

I tried to buy a beater 1924 with a m/m bolt and crack stock and other issues at a Tucson gunshow a month ago while visiting in Arizona. I couldn't
convince the guy my C&R was legal and he wouldn't sell to a non resident. He had a m/m incomplee bolt 48a sniper with one of the mounts still on it
also. I wanted to both of them though they had issues. We went to an 01 dealer at the show he knew, but the wanted me to pay $35.oo each to honor my C%R and
make a transfer. Alas I left without either of them.
Still looking, as I would like to get a model 24. gil |

Why is it that us lowly 03 license holders know more about the laws than the high falutin 01 FFL dealers do? That has always amazed me.

Curt I would guess because this is our specialty. This is our hobby which we love. Some 01's are just into firearms for the money and think they might do
something to upset the Fed's. And I think there are more than a few 01's who think we should not have a FFL because they are losing a profit by not
going through them to acquire C&R firearms. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I cant stand the gun dealer attitude either. I already ordered the 48 stock and am looking forward to shooting the gun, but since these stocks are
inexpensive I guess I will buy the 24/47 as well. Its not really a collectors gun anyway. When I bought it about 7 years ago the stock that came with it was in
terrible shape and it wasnt the original anyway. I got rid of the stock with the intent of making a sporter out of it. I abandoned the idea and just recently
decided to fix it up. The rifle is suprisingly accurate, the rifling is in great condition it needs a reblue. Not too worried about resale as I will never sell
the gun. Thanks again.

I got the m48 stock and let me tell you, it fits like a glove and looks great. The stock came with all the metal hardware. Even so, I am looking at getting the
24/47 stock as well. If anyone here needs a replacement for their m48 the stocks from sarco are in pretty good shape.
I also had a chance to shoot the rifle. I got a pretty great group at 100 yards. 2 1/2"! Not bad for iron sights. Shooting to the right about 4 inches though. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for steering me in the right direction and give you guys an update. |

Thanks for the heads up. For that windage, try an sks C-clamp type front sight tool. Works just fine on Mausers.

Well I had every intention to purchase that sight adjustment tool, but this morning I was at the hardware store with my buddy and I looked around for a small
c-clamp. Found one for 1.99. I took it home and wanted to see if I could make an adjustment. First I cut the wobbly thing off of the clamps bolt I then drilled
a small depression in the actual c part just opposite the bolts face. I placed the c-clamp on and snugged it up to the ears of the front sight. It took alot of
pressure but I got it moved just a hair to the left as the rifle was shooting to the right. So with a little mod I got an actual c-clamp to make the
adjustment.
