I have a chance to pick up a m-1 carbine, I have two to choose from, both are local and would be a face to face deals no shipping transfer fees ect...
The guy wants 625.00 He has a straight inland, 6 digit # in a IO stock 6-43 date, looks like a capital M in a box stamped on left side of the stock below the reciever non import, looks to be parked so I am asuming rearsnled at some point, looks to have the older style sights but does have the bayonet lug which would mean a post war rebuild right? stock looksgood as does the finish light wear on the edges. The second is a SG receiver with a inland serial number( did SG make recievers for use by inland since they were a part of GM as well) 43 dated no import and a pj stock nice wood maybe a bit better finish on metal. Both are tight guns and shoot well 2" groups at 50 yards he says. He says muzzle wear is a 2.
Is this a good price for non import all GI guns? Which would be the better deal? I like the idea of a gun gaining value but I like ones I can shoot as well. I thought about going thru the cmp but by the time I paid shipping and dues in a club it would be close on price and these guns look better then the ones the cmp has described.
Thanks for all your help
Ed
