Can anybody tell me how I can tell and original 10" cleaning rod for a 1938 Sauer and Sons Mauser? Should it be S/N'ed to the gun and waffenamted marked? Also what's the going price?
Thanks, AES

I can tell you this much. I got two reproduction 10" rods and none of them fit into the holes for my older K98s in which they are supposed to. The guy
from Classic Arms says they fit snuggly but the ones he sold me don't fit at all into the appropriate K98s (that he sold me). If you know someone with a
lathe he could turn down the diameter a little to make them fit. Then re-blue them using Oxpho or something. As for your question, I don't think there
was enough info stamped on any cleaning rods to this specific degree.

Yes, they can have the last two ditgits of the ser# and or WaA's, but some are with out markings. There are a couple of sellers on ebay that sell
originals, they can go for $75-100+ depending on your luck.
