Posts: 3702 (12/31/08 01:14 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I have been thinking a lot about 2009, and I have come up with a list of gun related resolutions that I will try to abide by. Resolution #1 I will refrain from panic buying just to possess an "assault weapon". So far I have avoided the frenzy of EBG panic buying. Resolution #2 I will not procrastinate when a good deal comes up for ammo. A few times this year I goofed around when a new shipment of surplus ammo hit the market, and missed out on what was a good deal. Resolution #3 I will stock up on reloading supplies. This is the time to get copious amounts of primers, powder and bullets. I also need to reorganize all my reloading equipment. BTW, this is the time to replenish stocks of blackpowder shooting supplies too. Resolution #4 I will redefine my collecting goals. I will not buy any rifles just to fill a hole in my collection. I will not buy any rifles on impulse or buy junk just because the price is cheap. More quality, less quantity. Resolution #5 I will enhance the rifles I own by picking up accessories that are missing ( cleaning rods, slings, dust covers, bayonets, ammo pouches, etc...). I will also replace buggered up screws and other messed up parts that are easily replaced. Resolution #6 I will take my kids to the range more often. Resolution #7 I will become more proactive in defending the Second Amendment. That means holding politicians accountable, supporting pro-gun organizations, and spreading the word on public forums.

I resolve to shoot the guns I have more often. I already tried to "focus" my collection in '08- I decided I was going to pursue FN manufactured firearms. Before I even had a chance to find another nice FN gun, I ran into too many other deals. I'm giving up on focus......

I also will continue to improve my shooting competitively and stockpile as much ammo as I can afford. Evil Black Rifle.....remember "this is my rifle, this is my gun. One is for......." Draybo AND I wouldn't hestate a minute on the "EBR" (the AR platform) they're absolutely great rifles (albeit a little boring). The AK or it's variants I (personally) would give major pause to. I sincerely hope you do. One of my resolutions is to thin my herd which will soon be forced upon me by fiancial necessity. Bill, although my health is good I've already started working on a diet to lower my cholesterol level which hovers around 200. That will include oatmeal for breakfast, which I like but have been too lazy in the past to prepare, eating lentils which includes one can of black beans consumed in three equal portions daily, and at least one piece of fruit a day. I will also exercise more regulary by taking walks several times a week assuming the roads aren't covered with ice as they have been recently. I don't want to injure my self phyiscally trying to improve my health. Well done, Buddy! Being a multi heart attack,atherectomy, angioplasty,stent,open heart bypass kinda guy, I understand from where he comes..... If ya ain't here, it don't matter what kinda resolution ya make..... Health is definately number one, and "diet" is a difficult thing to master. EBG was a freudian slip on my part. I'm a purist who has trouble referring to any firearm with a rifled barrel of 16 - 20 inches as a "rifle" when the correct terminology would be "carbine". Perhaps we can coin a new acronym; EBC (evil black carbine). I concur that maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be a priority. Since I refuse to become physically dependent on any type of medication, I run almost everyday and have cut all fast food, pastries and candy, and pork products from my diet. Before the change in lifestyle, I was on the ragged edge of needing medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

As for resolutions, I have only one. Try to better life and to do whatever is possible to acheive that goal. This includes not making a bunch of resolutions I know I will never be able to adhere to. I also like fish like salmon. Herring is good, too, and I need to get some pickled herring which is an ethnic food I love; think of it as Scandinavian sushi. I'm not overweight which is a definite plus. I've also backed off almost completely on caffeine and my alcohol consumption amounts to a couple glasses of wine per year. Raw almonds and pecans are in my diet, too. None of this is a guarantee I won't keel over tomorrow though. Carl
