I was down to one of the local sporting big box stores and found the reloading supplies flying off the shelves.

Anyone else stocking up on components? |

Due to the recent election and the perceived changes to ammo regulations, is anyone else stocking up on reloading supplies?

I've purchased some new components, but only as I really need them, not because I feel it is really, really necessary.

Went to Sportsman Warehouse over the weekend, looking to buy some pyrodex, maybe a few more percussion caps........ALL GONE! no caps or pyrodex left. Was
still some smokeless powder and primers available tho. Local Wal-Marts didnt even stock pyrodex this year. Some of them dont even stock firearms anymore. I
swear I see darkness closing in.

I've been stocking up for about a year.Plenty of bullets and primers. I even buy things I don't need now but may have a use for in the future. I just
need to buy some more powder and I'll be set for awhile. I just had a feeling that the election may go south and I'm glad I stated stocking up early.

Thanks Dave! Everything I shoot requires nr. 11 or nr. 10 percussion caps. (by the way, i've been an NRA life member since 1964) DM

I had a crush on Maryjane Bendall. And I got into trouble saying out loud that the capital of Chile was "con carne". And in case ya'll ain't guessed, I'm still a smart-ass. Dave

Funny, here in Oregon (the West Side) the stores still have plenty of components (and firearms.)
Matter of perception I'd guess. And maybe the thought that a man alone (even the President) can't do it by himself. Write your State Representives and Congressman. A letter (or a few thousand) goes a long way. Eric

Somebody's sure stocking up. Last week I went to the local gun store. Just that day someone had cleaned them out of 38 Spl, 357 and 45 ammo to the tune of
about $4000. I went back today to pick up 2K of small pistol primers for a couple of projects I've been thinking about. All I could get was 600, as the
rest had already been sold.

Imagined conversation...
WIFE: Are you telling me that I can't do ANY Christmas shopping because you bought $4000 in ammo?! HUSBAND: But honey, you don't understand, the amount I had would only allow me to shoot in my pistol league until 2010. What would I have done after that?

Yeah. If the feared additional taxes are imposed, he would have saved a bundle.

Sportsmen's Warehouse here in Rocklin, Ca has been cleaned out of basic reloading supplies (bullets, powder and primers) for weeks. Finally placed a big
order with Graf's and bit the bullet on the hazmat fee.

I bought two bricks of primers at Sportsman's warehouse but only because I had a coupon for $10 of on a $50 purchase that was about to expire.
I'm actually waiting for the price of ammo to come down. The price of metals all skyrocketed along with the price of gas and they are both down
dramatically. I expect ammo prices to come down dramaticaly since the raw materials are down cosiderably.
As an example aluminum can scrap was paying about $1.07 a pound in June and is now down to about 50 cents a pound. This is not the amount you get paid but what the big scrap dealers sell it for. Copper has seen even a more dramatic drop. I figure once the post election rush is over and manufacturers get caught up you will see ammo drop drastically also. I just don't see any ammo restrictions coming up in the near future that justifies the binge buying going on. Or I may be wrong, time will tell. |

Well, here in Oregon (the East Side) the stores are in low supply. Been a good run on black rifles and pistols of all sorts. There is commercial ammo
available, but the prices are high. Powder prices are reasonable, and most varieties still available, but short supply of primers, except where they want
$32/m. I guess it is the political difference between the two sides of the state.

I have been stocking up on reloading components, but find them harder to get over on the "right" side of the state. (But Bend is becoming more commie
all the time.) Sportsman World was zero. Bi-Mart has some. Luckily I loaded up on mil-surp years ago and have enough to fight thru any revolution that may need
to come.

Dang Dave! The 4th grade?? I was a rookie cop in '64. just back from 3 years overseas. Back then, to join NRA you had to have a cop or serving military
officer to sign for you. My best friend and i were both rookies, and we signed for each other. Chili con carne is the capitol of Chile???? I didnt know that!
LOL! Maybe that goes with "Hold my beer and watch this!"
