I recently came across a Walther p38 handgun, serial number 303249 and I was wondreing if I could get some more information on it and an approximate value.
I'm pretty sure the seller didn't know what he had. I believe the gun was made in the 1940's, possibly military issued. It has some distinctive
markings and characteritics, such as the square firing pin (akin to the 2nd series), the "banner" logo, an iron eagle above an "N" (on the
front of the barrel, near the trigger, and on the right side of the slide), and an antler engraved by the trigger next to the number "68". It also
has "5/65" etched on the right side of the slide.
Again, I'm pretty sure it was made in the 40s because it has the square firing pin, and they stopped using the "banner" logo after the 40s.
So my questions:
1. Does anyone know an approximate value of this gun? (It is in good/very good condition, has a little wear, but it's at least 90%; I don't have the
holdster, original case, or owner's manual though).
2. Does anyone know if it was in fact made in the 40s, military issued, and/or used in WWII?
Thanks!
