Here's the reason for this post: the P.38, in its holster, was stolen in 1969. For 39 years I have held out hope the thing still exists somewhere. I still have the "bring home letter" and pictures of Daddy clowning around with the Walther and helmet.
The serial number: ac 42 / 3258h. It was beautiful, with two identically numbered magazines. He even had several dozen rounds of 9mm with gray casings and black bullets.
I would pay a fortune to get that gun back, if by some miracle it ever turns up. Just a heads up. I know it's a long shot.
I own a couple of P.38's: one is an Interarms model with an alloy frame; a fun little popgun. The other is a '42 ac model like Daddy's. I bought it years ago to present to him as a replacement (it was my big mouth that got the original stolen). He politely declined.
