Some may say there is not much difference in the "brand of " primers you use.
All Manuals tell you to use the primers that is listed for the load.
I have three "3" manuals and only one gives the info I am about to give.
The Lyman 48th gives a chart listing all the primers in order from the lowest to the highest fps and psi.
When used with the same load with all other things equal, powder, cases, bullets, and firing conditions.
Feet per second doesn't count for much here. Only 37 fps difference between the slowest and fast.
But get this, 2600 psi between the low and high.
Example. I use Winchester primers.
so, If I load a never exceed load that calls for Rem.91/2 primers,The chart in discussion gives 52,800 psi for this load.
The same load with Winchester primers gives 54,700 psi. this is 1900 psi difference for this load.
With a never exceed load this could mean the difference between, well, you get the point, don't you.
You do keep up with this stuff, don't you.
Although I haven't loaded any never exceed loads, I have this in my mind to reduce the charge by at least one and 1/2 grains
if and when I come to this load.
Just thought I'd through this out there for anyone who wasn't aware of this information.
Hope it helps some one.
