Posts: 5192 (12/13/08 07:56 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Just looking for opinions, after so many years living in NJ, as well as a failed attempt to make a C&R in NJ feasible, I kind of forgot about it for a few years and I was enjoying what I could find at gun shops and the nice pre-98 antiques I buy from my online dealers. I started focusing on service auto pistols and building M16A1 clones, because I had so many bolt rifles of various types. I was about to print out the 03 application, and have been debating sending it in.........my thought was, at this point, whether it's worth it just to use to buy a few M48's and 91/30's from the distributors.......I'm not sure how much I would actually use it, although I haven't been tracking what's been available for over a year. I read some of the guys here say they didn't renew their 03 because they didn't feel they needed it anymore, just wondering if , since I have basically most of what I need and most of what I buy now is non-C&R........if I should go for a C&R now.

Posts: 2293 (12/14/08 07:33 PM) Host Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	it is still worth it because you can still get some good deals. you see the mn 91/30 for $$69 in shot gun news but when a store of gunshow has them they are all ways over $100 than you have to pay tax and have a background check .it has dried up some on what is new but you never know what will show up later.

It takes about 15 minutes to do the paperwork. Cost is $10 per year. It is worth that to me if I never use it. I can buy a C&R gun from anywhere in the country with no waiting period or backgroung check and I do not have to deal with an FFL. Paper work is not a problem. Paper trail to me is not any more of a problem than if I run it through an FFL. When questioned about amassing quantities of guns, my answer is that I have a Federal Liscense to do so. That will also be my answer if Obamba decides he wants my guns. C&R guns will probably be the last ones they come after, IF they ever have the guts to.

I saved more than $30 one a purchase of a Leupold scope and rings from Graf's earlier this year not to mention the savings on odd and generally unavailable brass. Brownells offers similar pricing to C&R license holders. If you never use it to purchase a firearm, but shoot and reload you can definetly save money with the license. JJK

No 01 transfer stuff needed.

I also live in NJ and about 4 years ago I applied for the C & R. Got a call from the Feds in Philly telling me that I was accepted BUT because I lived in NJ once the gun entered NJ via mail it was illegal. They told me that NJ laws are much stricter than Fed and would supercede. I ended up getting my money back. Have recently thought of reapplying since I do travel to FL every year and love to stop at pawn shops along the way to see what they have to offer. Not sure if I could walk out the door with a rifle if I had a C & R but would love to know.
