I am sorry for the both of you and really know what you are going through. My kids were both over 18 so that helped a bit but I still miss not seeing them and being closer to them. Your problems seem so familiar I have to pinch myself both with the wife and kids. We had many heavy discussions over the years about what I expected and what she expected needless to say it wasn't quite the same. One has her degree in English and is working as a waitress, the other is on his fourth major and should graduate this year. Time will tell with him. I can only say that it will get better! Time and working in your faith will help for sure! If it weren't for friends and the little family I have I would have really had a hard time. I retired, divorced, moved to WV, and made a new life in a little over a year and survived so if I can do it you can too. Remember we are all here for you and email or call if you need to talk. My very best wishes for you too. I've been through two divorces, and three near catastrophic live-ins. One led to me admitting myself for an accidental overdose to get my gut pumped out. Charcoal drink, IV, yada, yada. When I asked her what she was thinking when she set me up, she simply said -- "to be mean". And I'll be damned, I never did find a "kick me" sign on my back. I screwed up one good marriage, but the rest were all psychos. I'da been better off trying to put lipstick on a school of pirahnnas. We tried counselors and ministry help but it takes having a partner that will meet in the middle somewhere, and not just sit there with her arms crossed, pissed off during the session because she was made to be there, or literally curse out the pastor (after cracking me in the head with the phone) that offered to come over one night to mediate for us. This will pass. From following some of your posts, you seem like a hell of a good guy. Plus, spiritually and professionally, you have way too much going in your favor -- in living a sound purpose driven life -- for it not too. I know to say it will get better is just a hollow statement...but it will get better but it will take some time. My thoughts and prayers will be for you and your kids. The when and how of the separation must have come as a shock, that will wear off. The issues you state, the time frame you mention, and the steps taken / not taken no doubt showed this would come at some point. Keep in mind that, at this point, there is nothing more you could have done. You are a good man, be true to your good nature.

Your prayers and support are very helpful to me. I bet that the reason I'm doing as well as I am is because of prayers from my friends. Yesterday I got in an airplane flight with some friends. Might as well fly it while I've got it. Then we did some shooting and out to dinner and drinks. The waitress seemed very friendly to me. Maybe I've got a chance in the future. I've got to get my self esteem back. I've been knocked down for so long I was starting to believe the negative things she'd been saying to me. Still, I'm already on the upswing. In my heart I have the consolation of knowing that I really tried, and did not give up easily. I can hold my head up knowing that I did the right things, and none of the wrong things that frequently lead to the dissolution of a marriage. Yesterday my gunsmith buddy Jerry gave me a cheer-up gift. A Volquartzen/Ruger 10-22 that he built. VQ trigger group, heavy SS barrel, receiver, Fajen stock, all the best. 1/4 inch groups at 100 feet with match ammo off a benchrest. Not too shabby! I've not had the time to read through all my PM's yet, but THANK YOU to all who are sending their prayers and support. It is working, big time. My faith prevents me from feeling fear or sadness for too long. With the Creator of the universe in my corner as my best friend, what should I possibly be afraid of?

Took the camera I got from you to the Family get together in November and guess I had it in the wrong mode thought it was finished. My son was messing around with it the other day and hooked it to the TV to get it set back right, and WOW! It even does moving shots. Thanks DOC. and get well soon.
