SOG Trouble?

Has anybody had trouble with Southern Ohio Gun? I ordered a Mauser
71/84 with cracked stock from them. I ordered it 12/27, paid by cc and
as of 1/31 still haven't received it. I emailed them about the
situation on 1/26 and as of yet have not heard anything! No reply, no
rifle! I'm starting to get a little upset. I thought these people were
reputable. I was hoping to order more in the future from them, but if I
get treated like this, they can forget it!

I've ordered at least 8 rifles from them over the years with no problem except one. Rifle was in worse shape than described and they took it right back with no arguing. Call them directly and see whats up.

In 10 years I've never had a problem with them.
Have you called and spoken with anyone directly?

Hmm, I've heard for months now that they've been out of 71/84's. And for months I've wondered why they didn't take it off the website if they were out...

My next move is to call them direct. I have emailed them and have gotten no response. I don't understand why they would advertise and allow me to place an order if they are out of them! With the wrong person, that could be construed as something illegal. I just want the problem rectified one way or the other. I'd like to have the rifle if they have them. If not, I'd like my CC credited. Every business that I have emailed in the past has responded, happily. I just don't understand why they won't respond! If they are indeed out of them, one would think that they would want to right the wrong as quickly as possible. As I said, a phone call is in the works but it is hard for me to make calls during working hours. That is why I have tried the email route.

I too, am a satisfied customer of theirs, since 2001
please keep us posted on this, as I'm considering a couple more
milsurp purchases from them before my 03 expires in June

I just tried to email them AGAIN for the second time and my email bounced the daemon stated "permanent error" and "mailbox full". So they are getting a phone call tomorrow! I am NOT a happy camper!!

SOG has probably been closed down since Monday because of the snow/ice storm. That part of Ohio had 4 inches of snow, 2 inches of ice, then another 4 inches of snow. The area was under an Emergency Winter Storm Level 3, which meant only emergency personnell or absolutely necessary utility folks were allowed out on the road - everyone else was ticketed. Hopefully they will be back in the office tomorrow.

Has your cc been charged as of today? Right now, and for the past few weeks gun-sellers have been deluged with orders due to the Obama election and worries about future gun purchases under the new administration - panic purchases going on now. SOG has been one of my best purchase sites for many years. SOG will get your rifle to you if it has them in stock, I am sure.

Yes, my cc was charged the day after the transaction. I realize that there is a panic buy, there has since Nov 6. That was the reason I waited so long, hoping that "just maybe it will show up tomorrow".

	I know all about the snow/ice storm, we got the same storm that dumped on them. But I have been waiting for this rifle since Dec 27. I waited a month before I even contacted them. My first email was Jan 26 That was also before the storm. The snow didn't start till Jan 27 and the ice didn't start till Jan 28. They could have at least investigated and emailed me back.

Almost 10 years ago I had trouble with SOG taking forever to deliver a rifle I ordered from them. I called and told them to cancel the order after about 2 months of promises and communication with them. The rifle was delivered first day air the very next day. No explanation was forth coming and the dealer I ordered it through had no explanation either. He just said that is the way they are sometimes. I have never ordered anything from them since. Only complaints I have ever heard about them is they aren't accurate in their descriptions sometimes, Good Luck! Bill

I have never had any issues with them, other than a real snotty sounding gal who answered the phone one day when I called them about something. She was offended when I called the business SOG instead of Southern Ohio Guns. I reminded her that if they did not like to be called SOG, then they should change their name or quit referring to the company by its initials in all their ads. The only things I have ordered from them were a few cases of ammo, replacement firing pin for a Yugo 59/66 SKS rifle, a sling or two and that sort of stuff. AIM always seemed to get the lion share of my business, along with J&G Sales in Arizona.

Funny how these things go around. I can remember just a few years ago everybody was bashing InterOrdinace. I have not heard any complaints about them lately. I wonder if they ever got any better, but I know about five or six years ago, no one was saying anything good about them.

Well, I finally found out what is going on. It seems that I ordered a 71/84 with cracked/broken stock, an automated charge from SOG showed up on my cc. Then, when the order was processed, the charge was credited back to my cc. There was no rifle, so the order was rescinded. The only problem, NOBODY notified ME! Not SOG and not my cc. Now, I don't have a problem with SOG being sold out, but I do have a problem with not being notified. A simple email would have done! I just find it hard to believe that both SOG and my cc company don't think it is important to contact ME when an order is canceled!
