New to Forum, question about DUV42 mauser PICTURES ADDED |
Lead | |
|
I know a guy who is selling a DUV 42 Mauser. It is a DUV42 that was a vet
bring back and sporterized after the war. He has restored it back to its original configuration using all the correct WaA parts for a DUV. It has mostly
matching metal including the bands. It has had a barrel replacement at some time. It is the correct year barrell. The bore is shiny. What do you think is a
reasonable price for a weapon like this?

It depends on how it looks and how many (if any) of the original matching number parts remain.
A mis-matched restoration sells for $400 to $600 depending on condition, condition, condition. |

If the restoration is really correct and most important, the bolt and all bolt parts match the receiver numbers then
a DUV, being more a rare code, could go a little higher than $600.00.
Mismatched bolt then no more than $500.00 if that. Wulfmann

Thank you very much for the info. I know y'all here are a lot more knowledgeable then me. The bolt is mostly matching. The back of the bolt handle is
marked with the same number and letter as the gun, but the safety lever and on top of the back part of the bolt are a different number. The plate in front of
the trigger housing has a matching numbers, under the sight rail, sight rail, and front two bands are all matching.

I would love to see some photos. I have an interest in this particular year and code. Gustloff took over finishing duv42 receivers from Lubeck in the second
part of 1942. I would be interested in the rifle's letter block and whether its finished with E/214 or E/749 proofs.

It looks like it is finished with E/214 proofs. It looks like a very nice rifle and I am in the process of purchasing it. The price range was withing what
you guys had specified. I'll try to get pics when I get it.

Not bad for my first mauser purchase. I was originally going to get a RC, but this was only a bit more. I am happy, it shoots well. I just shot it today.
BTW what is the best ammo/ price these days?

The Romanian steel case and Yugo 50's ammo run about 30 cents a round and both are dirty and corrosive.
The Yugo M75 sniper ammo runs about 38cents a round ($315.00 plus shipping/900 round tin) and is much cleaner, more consistent and much more accurate. When the Rom and 50's Yugo were 12 cents a round (and the sniper was still what it sells for now) I could understand the huge difference in price for blasting ammo but the M75 is so superior I find it hard to understand why anyone would buy anything but the M75 sniper today. Here is a direct link to Wideners M75 M75sniper IMO Wulfmann

It's interesting how the mismatched bolt shroud changed into an unnumbered one in the later pictures.

Yea, the guy i got it from found an unmarked safety and a properly marked waa214 gas shroud after sending me pictures. Im just trying to get it back as much
as possible to a numbers matching type gun. Even though it never will be.
