I'm in the process of slowly restoring my H&R Garand. So far, I've been able to get my hands on an H&R trigger assembly and op-rod. So now the major parts are Harrington and Richardson. I'm not sure about the gas tube, though. Did H&R leave any kind of marking on the gas tubes they made, or should I not worry about it? Son of BALLSANDBULLETS

Posts: 5046 (02/16/09 08:32 PM) Forum Site Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I believe that the HRA gas-cylinder is indistinguishable from a post-war, wide-base Springfield or International Harvester gas cylinder. The gas cylinder lock should be the "high-hump" type but unmarked, and the screw (plug) should be marked "HRA". The H&R has a dished out end, and the SA has a punchmark to stake the screw into the swivel. Other than that, I'm not aware of any other differences. H&R Springfield
