Any suggestions where to buy a Garand receiver other than CMP? It doesn't necessarily have to be G.I. or milsurp.

Why would you want to buy a Garand receiver from anywhere BUT CMP?

Guess I didn't type what I really meant. Are there viable sources other than CMP? Checked the CMP web-site lately brody? All they have left are barreled
receivers and the photos ain't so pretty.

Keep an eye on Gunbroker. They do turn up.I got one of the 100.00 buck non matching barreled receivers from CMP.Very little pitting,or rust.Good bore, muzzle
about a 3.5.No ffl to pay for handling the transfer, and if you dont like it they will take it back.

I bought several bare receivers and a barreled receiver from CMP and have been extremely satisfied with everything. The barreled receiver had matching parking
with the barrel. The barrel appeared to be unused. It measured between 0 and 1 on the CMP muzzle gauge. In an answer to a post on the CMP forum, Orest Michaels
advised that many barrels dated in the 60's were affixed to receivers and never mounted on rifles. He opined that mine was just such a barrel.
Unfortunately, the price had gone up to $150 by the time I bought mine.
Later finished off with the parts from a "woodless Dane" and a new CMP stock.

Based upon your pics it looks like i will be ordering a barreled receiver after all. That'll save a lot of money over having my CAI junk receiver swapped
out and a SA or H&R receiver added on. Oh boy, all the bloggers here will probably be cringing after reading this post.
