Does anyone have any experience with this rifle and have good or bad things to say about them? I'm thinking, because of price point, it might be a good
all round hunter given good optics. What say you?

It's a Savage with no Accutrigger isn't it? They are good, accurate rifles and bargain priced too. I have the same thing in .243 with Savage on the
barrel, but the action and trigger are the same. Shoots good and it's a keeper.

Right, no Accutrigger. I was also checking out the Marlin XL7. It has their version of the Accutrigger, think it's called a Pro-Fire and is adjustable.

I think I'd go with the adjustable trigger because I've been spoiled on decent triggers and the Savage non-accutrigger is a bit heavy for pull weight.

I just finished glass bedding a Savage sporter in 7mm/08. Glassed stock is an unfinished walnut from Brownell's with a floated barrel channel to the
barrel nut. Rifle Basics trigger set at 38 oz. Factory recoil lug replaced with a .250" machined SS one from Sharp Shooter Supply. It's now
grouping five shots into .683" at 100 yards. The load used is 120 grain Nosler BT's pushed by 42.5 grains of Varget, RP brass weight sorted and BR-2
primers. I'm seating the Noslers .012" off the lands. Chronographed velocity from the factory 22" barrel averaged 2957 fps.

Sounds like a nice setup GaCop!
I got my Marlin and scope last week and took it out to the range yesterday. I was just using 150gr Remington SP Core-Lokt cartridges. I mounted and boresighted a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 with the BDC reticle. I didn't have 100 yards to shoot, but for sighting in, I had 50. I have it dialed in for deer, but I'd like to get it out to a longer range. Marlin's Pro-Fire trigger is awesome! Greg
