It Works! |

A while ago someone noted that a clothes drier fabric softener sheet will prevent mildew on leather in the area. I wiped off all the mildew that I could find
with a drier sheet and hung it up in the gun room. Over a month later; no mildew has appeared. It works. Don't know why.

Wonder what would happen if I wiped the bathroom tile with it?

I folded up dryer sheets to the right thickness and used them to bed my 91/59 stock. It worked. At least it got the barrel off the wood

Hi Colin. That was me. I'm glad you are having luck with it. The old woman at the shoe repair shop, who told me about it seemed convinced. It has worked
well for me, so far, on old leather slings. I have had mixed results on old leather ammo pouches. The mildew seems to return on the European pigskin ones after
awhile.

Hi, BobM14. I had mildew on some US slings, US holsters and an Austrian ammo pouch. Mildew hasn't come back so far. Don't have any pigskin to try it
on. Thanks for the "how to".
I don't know about bathrooms: most of the mold I've seen there is black, while mildew is white. Probably a different animal, that might possibly thrive on drier sheets. |

I wonder if it has to do with the anti-static properties of the dryer sheet and if it somehow attracts or displaces mildew and its' spores more effectually
than plain paper towels or cloths?
