Posts: 46 (10/28/08 06:29 PM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I know I always hated them but I have adoped a new policy that there should be a loaded gun in both bathrooms, rifle and pistol in master bedroom, hi cap pistol in the couch and a high power rifle in the music room all weapons to have rounds in the chamber except long guns. So I am looking for 2 CZ52s for my bathrooms. Does anyone have them anymore? Have CnR but hate show shopping. Thanks guys and gals! No worries no kids or drunks and dopers in my crib

Let me ask this question. If you live in a two story house and your weapon is in the night stand by your bed upstairs, what happens if someone kicks in the front door? If you're house has never been broken into you might think this sounds a little extreme but unfortunately I've been there and done that. Let me preface this by saying that I live in a quiet neighborhood not known for crime. My house has been broken into twice. (Sounds like a contradiction) The first time I was at work, the back service door to the garage was kicked in and the door between the garage and the house suffered the same fate. The footprint was clearly visible on both doors as I had reinforced both doorframes in the lock area. Unfortunately the bolts on both doors had released as the steel door bent. They are made of two halves and mine split in the middle and bent. Luckily not much as taken. The second time was also during the day. I was at home as my truck was in the shop. This time the front door was kicked in and I was in the basement reloading some ammo. I grabbed a pistol that was down there and went up the stairs. When I leveled the pistol and yelled at them they were gone. I have to be honest, it was all I could do not to pull the trigger. I had a clear shot at one of them but it would have been in the back My only point of this is that if my only gun had been upstairs and I was in the basement, I would have been shit out of luck. I'm sure that the sight of my coming up the stairs wouldn't have had as much of an impact if I would not have been armed. I hope that I never have to deal with this situation again but if I do I will be prepared, even if it sounds a little different. Let me ask you folks this? Most people have never considered how fast and violent a home invasion could/would be. Most people don't like to have their comfort zone disturbed by the thought of crime occurring actually inside of one's own home, the only place in this world where one be able to feel completely safe. But it does happen, and it's a rude awakening when it does. Keeping a gun downstairs is a great idea: crime doesn't happen only when you're in bed next to your weapon. I have to major issues with the CZ-52 as a home defence weapon. #1 the 7.62x25 round has way too much penatration for home use and #2, I want a home defence weapon that anyone from my kids to my girlfriend to Mom can pick up and use in an emergency, under high stress conditions. Double action revolvers are ideal, they are completely point and click, a close 2nd for me would be an XD-40 or a Glock 22. For the bathroom a nice stainless .38 would perfect. I personally don't keep a weapon within reach of my bed. I have one available but in order to get to it I have to be awake enough to get up and cross the room. I have a CZ82 between the bed and box spring. Camp 9 under the dresser. Colt 32acp in the couch. XD9 almost always by my side. AR and L1A1 with mags loaded in the safe. Yea more the better. Just mindful of drunks and kids. then eveything goes lock down but the XD. I keep cheap guns M44 ect in the gun cab as bait. The goodies and else wheres in a safe. That's a great idea. guns for the bathrooms. what a terrible place to be caught unarmed. My neighborhood is nice but the section 8 crack heads apartments about .25 miles away have been causing problems. 13 break ins in the last week while the people are home. The county line is 50 feet from the entrance to my road. Dtown cops will not go the 50 feet to come over for a call. LC cops have to come. There are only 2 units (2) LC cops on duty at anytime usually one at night. Response times to disturburance calls is over 30min. Heaven forbid if they are already busy. I'm tweaked, any lil noise gets my attention. and I'll be damned if i have to go unlock something. Yes to that other response I'll give them ammo, the ammo in my mag. I'm staying safe everywhere in my house. More loaded guns the better. They are hid well and I know where they are and that makes me sleep well. Just try to violate, quickly to your suprise you will understand you made the wrong choice of actions. During the Hurricane Ike both the L1A1 and AR were maxed out and by my side as well as the XD. When the eye of the storm passed over (it got very quiet and still for 30-45min) and i started hearing gun shots from people doing stupid stuff... Why not just carry a holstered pistol around the house? I'm a gun nut too, but that might provide an easier resolution to your dilemna. No law (yet) stopping you from wearing a pistol in your house or in your yard. I think that's especially true if you live in the county. I know it is in my neck of the woods.

They are a bit too hot to expect much in the way of self-defense. HOWEVER, That being said, I did do some experimenting.... I decided that FMJ is the worst ammo for self defense long ago, but it is also the cheapest way to feed the CZ-52.. So I pull the bullets on much of my mil-surp ammo and replace it with similar weight but more efficient projectiles. As I have done this for years with many different loads & calibers, it was easy enough to extend this thinking to the "Too Hot" 30 cal. My first results were with "Hydro-shok" style bullets. These usually indicate if any particular gun will have a feeding problem. I did find that a crimp is absolutely necessary, otherwise the case mouth may be too wide to allow bolt closure after seating the new bullets. My range results in water filled jugs & wet paper showed obliterated bullets. The fragmenting problem (while great AFTER impact) was severe & the bullets were not holding together well. This also affected accuracy as the velocity deformed the bullets in flight. After several different styles I finally found the answer.... 308 short jacket bullets.... Hornady makes a 100 gr bullet that is copper jacketed only up to the crimp point. Cost was under $14 a hundred. These were soft enough to really upset into what you would want from a hollowpoint, but held together all the way to the target so as to remain accurate. These did not expolde like the hollowpoints but sure opened up on impact. The energy was all there, NOT going down the pike on the other side of the bad guys... Weight was close enough to the 97 grn FMJ so no change in powder was needed! While you can argue all day which is the best/fastest/meanest/etc. I say the best gun to have is the one you have at the time. But there is no reason you can't make the loads better!!? The CZ-52 has the potential, it just needs to be realized.. Obviously Milsurp FMJ's are not ideal but if you just swap out the business end you may be surprised ! And some of them can be 'rebuilt' for less than it costs to reload from scratch. Of course berdan primed & bi-metal cases are not reloadable but they can be improved on. I bought 1180 rds of milsurp for $90, under 8 cents apiece. add 14 cents per bullet & my self defense ammo cost $11 a box. Can you beat that?? PS: If you do decide to do as above I recommend a Forstner collet style bullet puller. The 30 cal collet fits all 30 cal & 7mm military stuff incl 32acp, 30M1, 30-06, 308, 30-30, 7mm anything, 7.62mm anything, & both pistol or rifle. The hammer type pullers are OK for a few pulls but not if you are pulling more than that... Prime example, neighbor called and told me that there were people pushing on my fence and getting into my back yard today. I call the police and headed home. Usually I keep an XD9 in the car. It was left in my night stand, so I had to go check out the crib unarmed. Well I had a bayonet... It is now over an hour later and no cops have shown up. Saturday kids were shooting a 12g in the street. Now they are climbing from fence to fence back yard to back yard. I dont live far from crack town and in a seemingly nice place but the skum bugs like to take short cuts. Pistols get heavy when in your boxers so I dont carry in the house. Hence lets keep em close. I'm paranoid now waiting. Oh and sunday across the street from where the kids got arrested on Sat for shooting a car was broken into. Not a good feeling. Where are the police??? My tax dollars at work. As far as shooting someone with special hand loads..... EVERYone I have talk to has said that is a BIG NO NO. NEVER DO THAT! When they had the thugs on the ground on Saturday after their little shooting fun; I had my AR and 3 clips by the door just in case the coppers needed back up. Dang aimpoint would of been nice hard to see through national match sights in the dark 762 25 is cheap, so I'm not looking into a tokarov, never liked the CZ 52 much. And hallow point 9x18 is hard to come by. I do not really want another cz82. My girl lady whatever always brings her own little beretta over too. The economy is making people do stupid stuff.
