Type 99 in Serious Need of Restoration |
Lead | |

Traded a Lee Turret Press and Powder Measure for a Type 99 today that is in serious need of restoration. The stock is unusable as is, but the rifle and bolt
serial numbers match. It will need a stock, front and middle bands and a trigger guard that I know of. No import marks. It appears like a "last
ditch" but doesn't have the fixed peep site.

Beats me....I know nothing about the Japanese Rifles, other than I wanted to pick one up cheap and try and restore it over time. This one is my first. I know
the parts will be expensive and tough to get, but I am patient. I have a lot of research to do first.

Looks like you have a 25th series T99 rifle. Front sight looks like it came without ears. Since the bolt matches and it has a mum its worth restoring with
another stock. What is wrong with the trigger guard? riceone

riceone wrote: Thanks for the response. It looks like the tang has been shortened to fit the homemade stock it is in. It only has the one bolt hole behind the trigger guard. Also, is it normal to have the late front sight and the adjustable rear sight?
