I also saw a K 11 at a show recently. What is the value for these?
Thank you.

My favorite store has a very good to excellent K31 for $250. The stock and metal look very good. The stock is walnut. The stock looks to have been sanded.
The stock has none of the usual Swiss damage and looks new. It does have the cartouche. I can faintly see sander marks from an obital sander. Did the Swiss
refinish any stocks? Does the sanding of the stock de-value the rifle alot? Just curious as I need another Swiss.

The sanding IMO does effect the value of it , especially if it has been sanded the wrong way. I have seen some Swiss k31's that were lightly sanded coming
from Europe, Arsonal refinished?, or sanded by Hanns??. Whoever did it though?, didnt leave sanding marks in the stock. If its sanded like you say?, maybe
$180.00.
The value of K11's usually runs from 300.00-425.00 depending on condition. |

Thank you. The K11 I saw was over $400. I didn't know if it was a deal or not. Know I know.

I would say that if you like the rifle and are having a hard time telling if it was refinished or not, I would go ahead and get it. You will not be in danger at $250 for an appealing K31 rifle. I can guarantee you that these were refinished, albeit nicely and you can see what they brought on the open market -- A clean K31 has appeal beyond it's strict originality. If it was restored along original lines and not made to look like a piece of furniture or a Weatherby. http://www.gunbroker.com/...wItem.asp?Item=124365693 http://www.gunbroker.com/...wItem.asp?Item=120599751 http://www.gunbroker.com/...wItem.asp?Item=118508349 http://www.gunbroker.com/...wItem.asp?Item=122020035 http://www.gunbroker.com/...wItem.asp?Item=124068757 .

I think I will. I had no idea. Just 2 years ago they were $89 at Dunhams. I do have a fairly nice original in its original finish walnut stock.
Unfortunately it has a few nicks but not the "beaver chewed" butt end.
