Did POF use only cordite in their .303 loads or eventually switch (what year?) to newer powder? Any source info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, they always used cordite in their 303 ammo.

Current (2000 plus) POF production. | ||

Both POF and Indian Ordnance Board( (?Headstamp) still make small lots of .303 Mark 7Z, having replaced Cordite with Nitrocellulose single base powder sometime
in the 1990s for the .303. They also used Noncorrosive Primers for this latest ammo. Production is just sufficient for the much reduced use of this calibre
(Training and Police duties, and some LMGs (Brens) still in use in .303---most were converted to 7,62 Nato.). Both Factories (POF and KF) satill list .303 as a
production option.
But all the 1960s and 1970s Pakistani and Indian .303 thay may be surplus is definely Cordite and Corrosive. Regards, Doc AV AV Ballistics. |
