What's up with SOG?? |

They're one of my favorite places to buy from. My FFL should still be on file with them, but with the new site I can't access via my old password...
and getting a hold of them via phone is impossible. Impossible, I say! How is anybody placing orders through them??

They communicate by e-mail.
Here's a good example: (Basically, "we don't have anything you want, even if our web-site said we did. Would you like to order something else?") From: Beanstrung
From: sales@southernohiogun.com [mailto:sales@southernohiogun.com] Sent: Monday, March 09, 2009 3:28 PM To: Beanstrung Subject: SOG order 1000002xx Bean, I was waiting for your reply when I seen we just ran out of our 9X18 ammo. We have this ammo on backorder I just don't have any arrival date. Is there another item you might be interested in, or you would you rather me cancel out this order along with order 1000003xx? If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks, SOG, Trish From: support@southernohiogun.com [mailto:support@southernohiogun.com]

Could you combine it with my other order, # 1000003xx, for the Polish P64 magazine? Combining the two might save on shipping costs? My phone number during the day is xxx-xxx-xxxx if you want to call me. That sucks!
Email? What are they thinking? Why have a phone number that doesn't work? They used to be a tip top place.. what a shame. |

I ordered the Polish 7.62x25 ammo about 10 days ago and it arrived today - appears to be good stuff. Now, if I could just get J&G to deliver the Romanian
Tokarev I ordered on 2/11/09.

I have encountered the same thing as Beanstrung. Their new on line system is atrocious; Trish has no clue what is actually in stock, they sell stuff then
can't fill orders, and order time has gone from 1 week to 3 weeks before you even receive part of whatever you ordered.

Almost all problems can usually be traced back to a failure of management.

If the problem is experienced by people outside the company, then no matter what the root cause, it is totally the fault of management. But that's not who
pays for it, the scapegoat is usually found amoung the totally innocent that first voice having to deal with the problem to management. The squeeky wheel gets
the pink slip!

Bean, Your e-mail dialog with SOG is funny -- almost like the Monty Python's skit on Buying Cheese -- Op, we are fresh out of Stilton...! ;-)

I note that they have completely changed their website, my old log-in is no longer good and there is a murky procedure for creating a new one. Also had one
experience on placing an order on-line only to get an e-mail that it was out of stock, so I called and canceled. Then next time I called instead of using the
on-line stuff, was told that the item listed on the website was not in stock. Have not tried anything with the new site and am a little reluctant to. A shame,
have dealt with them in the past and was happy, now things have changed and two in a row went bad.

for the past 3 weeks, I too have been trying to 're-register' on-line with them
to date, 8 different occasions a 'new' password should have been sent to my e-mail addy and I'm still waiting...for any or all count me as another 'former' contented customer of theirs the new website leaves a lot to be desired for those of us on the outside looking in Bob |

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having problems, not that I don't already have enough projects going right now, but I do like to see what they
have and prices.

I sent an email to SOG saying that I was just plain disgusted with being "locked out" after numerous past purchases from them. Received an emailed
password and went back to the site. Took some "navigating" and "fiddling" but I re-established my account without a lot of trouble and have
ordered a couple of things (ammunitions) since without trouble. The new site is not, I think, "user friendly" but it is navigable and functional.

I guess I didn't word my email right. Still can't get a password. I'll try calling. If that doesn't work I'll just wait til the latest rush
dies down. I've only bought from them once anyway.

Update... | ||
|
Here's my latest correspondence with SOG. It seems that Trish may have been replaced by Angie, and Angie at least acknowledges the problems and
apologizes for them. I did receive two of the four items I ordered. To me, this is an improvement on their customer relations end, but the rest of their
organization needs to get everything "clicking", so that the customer service dept is not overburdened with explaining why things don't work the
way that they are supposed to.

This has happened to me with several other venders. If you don't have the product, take it off the website ! Don't punch the customers credit card and
place it on back order. This seems to happen a lot in the Shotgun News. Big,expensive ads, showing lots of items, but when you try to place a order, they
don't have squat ! Can't understand how they can get away with this, but they do. We know who they are.

usernamehasbeentaken wrote:Please remember that all ads in "Shotgun News" and Gun List" must be submitted six weeks in advance of publication-date, which means that by the time the paper is published many of the items will already be SOLD OUT. Another reason why Empire Arms does not advertise in either of those publications. I figured out sixteen years ago that the internet is the only logical way to do things. . . the down-side is that many "impulse-buys" are made whilst sitting-down reading a catalogue in the smallest room of the house.
